You can get the points once per hour (ingame time). There is a timer 🙂
Through out most of the game and up to the end. I used Angaran armor for the Tech boost. Since my end game skills were Turret, Overload (I think that was the skill name) and Zapp. I had Angaran Guerrilla VII armor during end game. Augmented to my tastes. Normal mode is easy enough that you could use any armor and be ok. Though best to pick a set based on how you fight and your skills. N7 is biotics all the way. Were pathfinder is more rounded combat (if I remember correctly).
Bonus my weapons at end (and through most of the game):
Pistal - Talon - At close range with some big enemy (Mechs, Big bots and those gorilla things). It hits them hard and takes them down pretty fast. Light rate of fire for more control. Though not the best for max ammo or clip size.
Shotgun - Piranha - I am not a fan of Shotguns most of the time. This one though was very comfy to me. Good to use on Revs and Kett boss (those orbs suck). Large boss or groups got a good spray. Add a grenade augment and it was pretty fun.
Riffle - Sandstorm - There are probably some better for damage or rate of fire, but this was nice. Controlled fire so I was not wasting ammo. Added with Seeking Plasma bolt augment, made it perfect. With plasma seeking bolts, most missed shot still hit the target and I could shoot over barriers. Was very nice.
Sniper - Isharay - OMG MY BABY! This gun was my favorite. Most damage for any sniper (over 1300 at endgame). Sure it's clip size was only 1 and max ammo I think was 30 at the end. Though for upgrades it was perfect. Many great upgrades had lowered clip size percentage. Well when clip size is 1. You can't lower it anymore. So no negetive and all positive. That and almost every basic enemy was a 1 shot kill (with fun comments from my crew). Harder enemy with shields I would just hit them with overcharge to get rid of shields and stun them. Then POP goes there heads. I even named my endgame crafted one Baby! Cause it's my baby. Just don't use Plasma Seeking Bolt augment on it. Slows and reduces dmg on the shot. Just kills that gun.
Melee - Rev Cryo Glove (forgot to write the name down) - Not the most dmg but that cry freeze was nice. Especially if you got a group of them. Do a jump slam on a small group and a couple get frozen. It was very sweet. I did not do a lot of Melee but when I did. It was always satisfying.
That's what I used. In the end, you should try a lot of stuff out. Find what feels good and go with it. After all, we all have different tastes. :D

During the trilogy I was a soldier class all the way and now you tell me N7 armor benefits biotics only !!!
thank you all guys, I really appreciate your help.
now another nOOb question for you.
I have enough points to research the N7 armor level 4.
Does it have sense to waste minerals to build a level 4 armor or should I wait level 5?
What is your approach? Do you built an armor as soon as you have research points/minerals to do it?
If I build level 4 armor, I will not have enough minerals for level 5...
If your weapons are up to date, you can push the armor out another tier. What I do is research armor in one faction and weapons in another. For instance, I use the Remnant Sweeper as my goto Assault Rifle and Initiative Pathfinder/N7 for armor. This way I am never short on research points. Also, buy as often as possible the addition research under AVP. Beyond that, scan everything. Listen for the bleep and scan.
I will admit with my Tech/Biotic build the Angaran armor with the N7 would be best, but uhg that look. Sorry but there has to be some form over function.
Materials really won't be a problem for the most part later on. As well if you deconstruct any armors you get from drops will help get you more materials. The increase between levels as well is not very noticable. So waiting wont make your game harder. So you could wait till you can make lv 6 or even 7 armor. There were points where I was using armor 2 lvs under what I could make. I did not feel in any more danger. Sure the buffs made combat a little better. Just not so much that I felt like I needed to constantly upgrade.
Again though, for me. The armor I was using tend to drop often. Same for my weapons. So that helped.
I ended my game with the remnant armor, looks cool and helps with health and shields.

I don't have other milky way points for level 4 and 5.
How did you get so much point?AVP points, also exploring and scanning planets, you find things that grant MW research points.

Have you checked the armor vendor on the Nexus?
I think mine sold N7 armor...after I had crafted it.
If you want it, make sure you do not waste research points, unless you research weapons from Andromeda or the Kerts. Then all the Milkyway points will be available for your N7 armor and some mods.
