[PC] Mass Effect 2 LE crashing on the Normandy

Don't want to necro this, but Google gave me this post.

Same issue here. Steam. Not using any trainer. Repairing files was not necessary, as the client didn't find any files with issues. DX diag attached. It is a pretty sad situation, actually. On Normandy the sound glitches and voices are no longer there. Pretty often it crashes. After having my little tour around the new Normandy, I have no chance to reach Joker. It just crashes.

Finished ME1 today with all the possible Achievements and wanted to continue as long as I still have some spare time.

Virus scan is negative with bit defender payed version. Doubted it anyway, as this is also a company network with hw firewalls and so on. Sadly, repairing files did not help. There were no files to repair.

Theoretically, but as said, "CELib_x64.dll" is the module that is responsible for the crash. Locate this DLL on your system and move it to the Trash bin.
Then restart the PC and test.

I have moved your post to a separate thread.

"CELib_x64.dll" is the module that causes LE1 and LE2 to crash.

Afaik "CELib_x64.dll" is part of a trainer software, you need to remove the trainer and repair the game.

  • Sure, I understood that. I am still not using any trainer on this system. Must be another software. Any ideas? System is not too old, and I didn't really install a lot of software.

Then it is most probably a Trojan.

I would suggest a full virus scann of your system followed up by a full scan with malwarebytes or a similar software.

    Also, repair the game.

(Origin: Game Library > Right-click the game cover > Repair)

(EA app: My Collection > Click on the three dots on the game cover > Repair)
(Steam: Game Library > Right-click the game > Properties > Local Files > Verify integrity of game files.)

  • Virus scan is negative with bit defender payed version. Doubted it anyway, as this is also a company network with hw firewalls and so on. Sadly, repairing files did not help. There were no files to repair.

I also own the classic version of ME 1, 2, 3, and Andromeda. The ME 2 Classic game does not crash, at all. It is only the LE version of ME 2. Could there be any issue between Steam and Origin?

  • Just found that it is in one of the company made Photoshop plugins, which injects several scripts to be able to batch some PS processes. Sad, but I cannot remove that one. Weird enough, photoshop is not running when I play, so why would a dll file interfere with it? I'll probably stick to the original ME2. Wanted to get all achievements in Steam for the LE, but seems, it is not possible then. Thanks for your help, though.

You could try to rename it to "_CELib_x64.dll" and test.
If it works you can automate the rename > rename back process with a batch.
