I agree about the hero being switched out each game is not fun, like in DA. Although I really disliked Hawke, felt no emotional attachment at all. I left Hawke to fight the demon and felt no guilt/sadness. To me Hawke was a doormat.
I am kind of hoping that mom being alive means that the twins will have families at some point. Who better to babysit than mom when your out pathfinding? Since mom was hooked up to SAM does this mean mom can use remnant tech?

Yup was many years ago, I vaguely remembered liking Dragon Age the first one... Especially really liking Morigan... Man that voice... Love Claudia black(didnt know it was her at that time)... I didnt remember DA2 that much, didnt have much connection, just played the game, think I enjoyed it but nothing earth shattering. DAI was ok as well, no biggie... Didnt connect with the inquisitor as well... Actually the name turns me off a little, some negativity at the back of my head linking it to the Spanish inquisition and the pain they inflicted in the name of religion. Just like if there's another game and my title is Führer, the entire game could be about something else killing dragons, slaying demons, but at the back of my mind it reminds me of Hit*ler(why is his name censored by this board? It's not a vulgarity lol... It's history...), same title and all... Maybe I am just weird, wiring's a little crossed...lol...

Heh, well frame of reference does matter. When I hear the Spanish Inquisition, my first reference is Monthy Python. And well I've played Warhammer 40k a lot so Inquisitors also there have a much different meaning. Still, I also didn't connect to the character in DA:I either just for different reasons.
DA:2 I played a lot more and I did like it but the game did have some major issues about travelling and zones just being copy/paste. I remember that for sure. Still the story was more interesting still than DA:I. I still think the original one is the best.
It's interesting to me, because one could argue that if it's the first game you played it has a special meaning and that's true, but for Mass Effect it's 2 and 3 I still play and not 1.
But I'm with you on that a single reference or connotation can really ruin a game.
So maybe you're not the only weird one here hehe.

i had the same thoughts about the titles in full metal alchemist, till i got used to it...
anyway, while i did like DA:O, DA2, and i had a love/hate relationship with DAI (though it feels there's more hate than love at times), i never truly felt as connected to the dragon age series as i did to mass effect's. and i happen to make a direct connection to the rotating protagonists in DA as the main cause.

I really really hope they keep the Ryders for multiple games......maybe put a few years, aka 1-4 years, between them, but nothing to drastic. There are WAY too many plot lines to just up and finish them well in dlc...yeah they could but it wouldn't be done well. I don't mind too much the rotating people in DA series, but I really prefer to keep one for a few games to get to know them and their crew.
As a side note: They got their green ending with sam....a blending of synthetic and organic so no one is threatened or going rogue....lol, they finally managed to push it on us no matter what.....:eahigh_file:

Hehe, you're right about that green ending.
To be honest, I would prefer an ongoing story as well, but I just wonder why they left it so open. Is it a tactic? Where they just testing the waters? I mean I look at DA and think, nope, that's not the way I like it. I didn't even buy the dlc for DA:I. Couldn't be bothered to do even a 2nd playthrough. I mean the story was fine, I just didn't connect to the characters, particularly the companions.
I just wonder if somehow they've decided that's the way to go for all games or if they really are open still to continuing with a specific hero. The only thing that is a shame for me is on the merchandising side. I have a bunch of N7 merch, but I'll never see myself wear white/blue clothing. If for the next installment they could do a black/blue variation in it, that'd be different.
For me in ME3 the choice was always clear to me...I cared about Shepard so I invariable chose the option where Shepard survived. Just that one second of seeing that movement and the LI not putting your name on the deceased list made it all worth it. I really wonder if they are able to make me feel that way about Ryder. Currently I don't but it's a new game and it can still grow to be that way.

personally i want to play as an asari enough with the human bias what are you Cerbereus Bioware in a game with so many intresting races you always end up oh humanity will save the day ... when in reality we'd probley screw up and get everyone killed what with being the youngest race and all :D

i happen to like the da series too. i actually enjoyed playing DA2, so to me that makes it a good game (though plenty of people don't agree). i just happen to like the mass effect trilogy more, and i think that's entirely about being able to play my shepard through all 3 games in the first trilogy.

Being the epic Space Opera hero/heroine helped a little there too. Being able to be epic AND be a * was truly unique.
BTW, the last time I was buying Cobras the gal at the counter asked about you.

I liked the DA2 story and enjoyed that part of it. Also some cool companions (I like big boats and I cannot lie), but it lacked on the copy/paste scenery and map travel options especially. The biggest disappointment was DA:I for me. I actually like the story and playthrough but as soon as the story was done, I simply felt no reason to go back. I didn't connect to the characters or the world and well to be honest the UI was a bit cumbersome as well and again the map travel thing was clunky as well. But as with DA2 I could've forgiven the clunkiness because I enjoyed the story and the characters. Sadly that didn't hold true for DA:I. Just couldn't get myself to care about the companions, except Varrick.
ME:A is doing better for me in that respect as I am now on my 4th playthrough, but I agree there is something about continuity that makes for a stronger experience than one-off stories. I guess it's more exciting to see what happens next to the hero that you know and love rather then wondering if you're going to like the next protagonist. I can understand that after a trilogy that they wanted to take a completely different direction. I just hope that this direction is not what they do with DA.

i too had issues with the cut and paste level design in DA2, the poorly done lower res textures that seemed to be everywhere. but, the game still worked, i can't recall game breaking bugs, nor can i recall any major bugs at all. and the game was good too. DA2 had it's issues, but i still enjoyed playing it a lot. less so for DA:I but i still did like 12 PT or so, so to me even if it seem like a total mess i still must have had fun in there somewhere. (i guess i should note i use a lot of mods for DA games, that seems to keep things fresh for a while)

Dragon age 2 was extremly lazy in the world design the same cave for the 3rd time with a cart slightly moved to make it seem like a new one at least Andromeda is not that level of lazy there a bit of lazyness in andromeda by no where at the same level but I liked it but I' accept that my taste is not universal unlike the haters that keep harping on how aweful it was

Off topic for a sec - just a HUGE thank you @jpcerutti1! I have been trying for two weeks two think of the word "Opera" to follow space. It has been on my tongue the whole time and I refused to look it up like an idiot. Woohoo!
