"press start" VERSUS "press any key to start"
hey guys at the start screen for mass effect on pc with the new patch updated, it says "press start" on my start screen instead of "press any key to start" and no key i press on my keyboard will act...

So the game stops at this screen? And there is only "press start" on the screen, not "Press Any Key"?
Did you tried to repair the game? (in Origin > Game Library > right click ME1 > Repair)
That is one thing I have not tried yet as I just installed the game. I will give that a try in a couple days when I get back to my PC. Thanks for the direction, regardless.
So I just let Origin repair the game and tried again. Same results. Same start up screen with "Press Start" and nothing works to get past this screen on the keyboard.
Do you or did you used mods?
Did you edited game settings files?
Do you have a controller attached to your PC? (If so disconnect it > reboot > test.)
What exactly does "Combed the config files and moved around/deleted recommended things" mean. (What did you do exactly?)
Please create a DxDiag in text file format and post it with your next reply. You can do that with the "Choose file" button at the bottom right corner of the reply window.
No Controller currently attached to PC.
Replaced all ini files with their originals just in case I accidentally bumped anything while trying to discover my issue in them.
When I do connect the [ps3] controller I have, with a mod to make Windows think it is a 360 controller, the game does let me press start on the controller and start the game using mouse and keyboard. HOWEVER, on the very first dialogue interaction with Joker in the cockpit, the game wants the controller to move the cursor. The game will not let the mouse choose anything no matter what I do. Extremely annoying. When I disconnect the mouse at that point, I am stuck and cannot do anything.
