Re: mass effect 3 cannot save

@Player_emgqng8c

The "Documents" folder is by default on the system drive and the system drive is by default C:.
Is D: your system drive?

  • Hi, thank for quick replies.

My system drive is C by default but documents folder in my computer is moved to D drive during the creation of partitions when system is installed long ago.

just to add one explanation more. Documents is on D drive and the path is simple: D: Documents. However there is also one folder with a name "Documents" which is almost empty and the path for this one is: C/Users/"name of my computer"/Documents. In this folder there is nothing.

And there is no "BioWare" folder in your "D:\Documents" nor in your OneDrive folder?

Please search your computer for files with the file extension *.pcsav.

  • Dear Holger,

I was searching for the pcsav documents and I found savefiles on the external disc. So I removed the external disc (drive I in my case) and moved the location of "Documents" folder to C drive. After that, I removed and re-installed Origin and the game again but nothing changed and there is still no saving. Again no option to load a game neither to continue from the main menu. The message I get when the game starts is that ME3 content patch, content patch 2  dlc modules and ME3 extended cut are unable to authorise. I installed extended cut through the origin. After re-installing the game I was searching again for pcsave files but this time I could not find them. It seems now that I have now even more problems. Please help.

    Do you use mods?

    • Make sure Origin is closed.
    • Make sure that external drive is not connected and disable OneDrive until you completed this guide.
    • Go here and download the "Revo Uninstaller". (The freeware version, Portable version works too.)
    • Run "Revo Uninstaller" > Uninstall ME3.
    • At the end of the main uninstall, Revo will ask you which cleaning method you want to use. > Select "Intensive" > Browse.
    • If "Remaining registration content found" is displayed > Select All > Delete > Next
    • When "Remaining Data and Folders" is displayed > Select All (Make sure the "Origin Games" folder is not in the list) > Delete.
    • Restart the PC > Run Origin as Administrator (Right click the shortcut on the desktop > Run as Administrator.) > Reinstall the game from a fresh download > Test.
  • Hi Holger,

I don't know what are mods. If you are referring to any additional installation I don't use anything. If mods are any changes during the game I just selected what was offered in the introduction (for example selected earth-born, infiltrator etc  ...)

I followed each step of your instructions (complete uninstall with Revo, disabling One drive, pc restart, launching Ondrive as administrator etc) but in the end, nothing changed. Still, after launching the game I got a message that dlc is missing (the same one I uploaded screenshot in the previous post). Again saving is not possible and the only difference I see now is that when possible to save (after the long intro of 10 min) there is even not saving icon present (rotating circle). Also if after clicking on save button click on the load button there is nothing to load).

Please advise if you and any other suggestion.

    • Create a new Windows user account (Administrator) (Don't use local Special characters, use only Characters from the ASCII table.)
    • Restart the Computer.
    • Log on to the new user account
    • Test.
  • Dear Holger, thank you it finally works, you are genius.

I created new account and it works from this one. I didn't check what was happening if I would launch the game from the my normal account but I will not do it and I will simply switch accounts before playing.

    Thanks  a lot.

    You're welcome!

You should check if the game works on the main account as well.
The idea behind this is that Windows will renew some files if you creat a new account, so it might work there as well now.

  • Hi Holger,

I did what you suggested, launched a game from my normal account and it was like before, no saves no options to resume the game.

So I switched back to the new admin account I opened and I faced a disaster. In the new account, the game is again not working. It would be better not to this and to simply use new account only for ME game playing. I was playing a game after so long waiting for a couple of hours and now I lost everything.

Is there any solution now I should do everything from start, uninstall, open new account etc and again playing from the beginning.

    😢

    This is strange.

    Don't reinstall the game.

Just delete the new Admin account > Restart the Computer > Create a new account again.

  • Dear Holger,

In the meantime I launched a game from the new account again and it started to save from the beginning. I was just playing the same segments again until reaching the point where I was before. So the game is saving well from the new admin account but not from the regular one but when launch a game from your common Windowas account it simply delete all saves. I was searching again for pcsav files but there are no any.

So, I would like to continue until I finish the game as it is risky to experiment and perhaps loos saves agan.

Anyway thank  you for your great help.
