Re: Mass Effect: Andromeda - Insufficient Space, 3.00 MB Required

Hey @JupiterFlux

To my knowledge the Xbox One will reserve space to be used for the save files for each game you play. You should be able to see the amount of reserved space it has set aside if you select Mass Effect Andromeda and hit the menu button on the controller. Go to Manage Game, then select Saved Data. You should see all your local save files there, along with a block for the reserved space. That will show you how much has been allocated for that particular game.

If you haven't already, I would try clearing out that reserved space to see if it helps. When you start the game up again it will recreate the reserved space, so if something is amiss with the space that's been set aside already that might help.

  • There is no reserved space as other games have. And while I can’t guarantee I would have seen it before, I don’t think I ever noticed any for Mass Effect: Andromeda as other games have.

Hmm, I see. That's pretty odd. Do you have the game installed on an external hard drive, or is it using the storage device that was included in the Xbox?

  • The game is installed on an external drive with the add-ons on the internal drive. I can try deleting and reinstalling everything on the internal drive if you think that would help, but I’ll mention I have plenty of other games installed on the external drive that work fine.

I think it would be worth a try to see if it helps. I'm wondering if there's something that's preventing it from properly allocating the reserved space on the external drive.

If you can give it a shot I would appreciate it. Let me know how it goes when you can.

  • I can confirm that (after completely uninstalling the game and reinstalling it) the game does not have any Reserved Space. My save data redownloaded when I reinstalled the game automatically, no Reserved Space. Opening the game and getting past the title screen also did not create any.

Slightly related, all I could get from Microsoft is that there is technically a limit on cloud game save data size, but no one would say what the limit is. The console itself has no limit and if the cloud limit per game is exceeded there is an option to then not use cloud storage for that game.

Hmm, I see. I wish I could offer more info on that, but I'm afraid I don't know myself either. The only other option I could think of would be to try deleting the save data from cloud storage to see if that makes a difference. You could try backing it up to another external storage device first then go into your save data management and "delete everywhere" to see if that helps at all.

  • I’m going to try to be positive for a moment and ask how do I move the save data to an external device?
And now I’m going to add that if I could do that, I honestly would have done that a couple weeks ago when I had the problem. According to Microsoft there is no way to do that. The save data is locked to cloud storage to avoid tampering. Which I don’t hold against EA, but the combination of Microsoft’s control issues and the game’s apparent bugs have resulted in my not being able to play it. Which is disappointing because it was easily my top second or third favorite Xbox One game.
I’m still open to suggestions, but unfortunately I’m not keeping my hopes up that there is a solution.

So you tried to disable cloud saves for the game?

Did you tried to delete some older saves?

  • My goal here was to avoid deleting save data without having it backed up somewhere and (I suppose it wasn’t clear in my post there) the option to not use cloud storage only shows up if the cloud storage is full. Which mine isn’t, so I can’t not use cloud storage.

  • @EA_Kent Hey! Just noticed, after perusing all this discussion of the "3.00 MiB" error, that ME Andromeda apparently has a hard-coded limit on the NUMBER of save files. I have half a dozen user files with saves, but going through them all and deleting all the older saves frees up "space" for new saves. (After all that trouble…)
