Re: Mass Effect Andromeda language choice

Hi, I'm currently working in Russia, I pre-ordred the game Mass Effect Andromeda, now I'm looking at the supported language it says "Russian". Now I don't know what kind of sorcerly is it because the origin site is in English and the app in client preference is also in English. Then why am I getting a Russian version. I do not speak Russian only know the basic stuff as in how to order my food or go shopping.  If there is no way of getting the English, then I will cancel my order! please tell me there is a way!

    @Alvarez_XIII

    This answer is with reservations.

The way it looks atm the Russian and Polish versions will have English voice over and only Russian and Polish subtitles.

I search conformation for this statement and will be updating the thread if I get that.

This will be  terrible news if it's true. I would just like a choice in the matter.

    Hello,

I have the same problem. I am living in Europe but I am Russian speaking person. So I would like to have Russian subtitles. But it’s not allowed in GLOBAL version. I still don’t understand why? It is a first time when I have faced with such problem.

PS4 UK version of the game has all available subtitles on every language. If UK do have them, I'm 99% sure all the European regions will have all the subtitles as well, but I have noinformation abou USA copy, thats what I want to know.

Every time they issue a game in Origin, these regional settings are damn frustrating...

I speak in live in Russian, but I want to play the game in the original language. Why can we choose that, when we're buying the game??? Why should i make difficult steps, obtain the English version pack, and manually solve this issue,... (that was my answer to the same problem with ME3 and DAI). Why do I need to consider refunds every time and to download cracked multilanguage torrent versions...

EA is wasting their time, money and efforts in development, working with clients and community, but they are still c**p at that...

I sort of gave up on EA and Ubisoft games at this point. Last time i barely convinced EA support to change the language of Star Wars Battlefront for me and i saw posts mentioning that they wont do it for MEA. Ubisoft refuses to change language as well and in fact just stopped answering people all together when they ask for it. Took me almost 3 months to get an answer when i made ticket as well.

They don't care about me so i don't care about them. I would've liked to play new Mass Effect but i wont if it means that i have to read eye bleeding fonts and dialogues in Russian. Also yes - its absolutely a form of racism and got nothing to do with economics. They could've just allowed buying a European version with all languages or a language pack or restricted launching games outside of your country like Blizzard and Valve do but instead they are actively punishing and restricting people that live in certain countries and forcing Russian language onto people that might not even speak it despite living in eastern Europe. Pretty disgusting.

  • I may have found a way to resolve this problem, I need to test it out tonight post release of the game. if I have then I will post either here or on my post above ^.

This region lock business is pure BS and a regression from what was before. Localized copy of Dragon Age: Origins or Mass Effect 1? Completly optional, could go full localization or full English. Later titles? Nope.

I have managed to get Inquisition running full English in Poland by swapping .loc files and I sincerely hope that the same will be quickly possible for Andromeda. I am buying a physical copy to support my local retailer and the fact that I have to deal with the same * as before honestly infuriates me. Maybe it is time to start using some shady key-resellers for EA games and hope that the codes are stolen? Because the language issue is anticonsumer as *.

As far as I investigated the matter there is no way to go around country lock other than buy a physical copy from the country where English-language is fully supported.

EA moderators stated that on several occasions. One Polish guy on this forum posted that he spend most of his 10 hour Origin Access time on the game trying to get around the language lock and failed.

I am going to return the pre-order, should be possible for me (late buyer) on Friday 🙂

I wanted Deluxe but I guess I will be getting Standard, cheaper version from abroad. GG EA, less money for you I guess. Money I was so willing to give for my beloved franchise.

Are you serious? Not even with file swapping? That is some serious BS.

If it turns out that by no means will I be able to switch the language, in a punishment for trying to support a local shop, I will just pirate the game. And I honestly hope that it gets more pirated than Spore, maybe that'd open some eyes at EA :/.

so can somebody please confirm - if i live in Russia and buy a EU cd key from third party website or order the game from Amazon, will i be able to play in english, or do i have to wait for torrents release to play the game in it's native language?

I will be able to confirm that possibly next week - I already bought a code in the box from amazon uk (not origin code version) but they cannot ship it until tomorrow (EU premiere) - then there is at least few days for delivery to reach me.

I will post here if that worked for sure.

Dear God...it's the same bs as with DA:I

...I spent a lot of money on DA and then had to spend double that to get the "global" version so that  I'd have  it in English ...

My English is better than my Polish and honestly I feel as if I was slapped in the face...I won't be able to play a game that I spent a lot of money on...
To make matters worse...EA knows that this is a problem...b/c a lot of people were outraged by it with DA:I...also I contacted EA support and after waiting for 3 hours for someone to respond to the chat option (even though it said the wait time was 6min) I gave up

    ...

and to make matters even worse...I tried to get money back through the Origin site...and it just gives me an error message...honestly I'm never buying another EA game again...this really sucks

Someone posted (dont remember in which thread) that EA confirmed that EU version will include English, German, French language + Italian, Spanish and Portugese as text language. I saw some guy in GErmany confirmed that he was able to switch to English. I dont understand one simple thing... when Poland quitted EU?

    I know right?
I'm starting to think that EA thinks that people in Poland and Russia are not able to speak any language aside for their native one...which honestly feels like a slap in the face...

And what about English speaking people who live in Poland...?
I have at least 3 friends whose Polish is nowhere near good enough to understand a video game let alone enjoy it...they're not getting the game b/c they're terrified they'll end up in the same situation as me...

Damn this. If I knew this I wouldn't let my friend make the money and I'd buy a key from some site. But no, I had to get a physical copy.

I am so unbelievably angry right now. And there is nothing I can really do except pirate the game that if had bought, because of some braindead suits with a policy that got created as a result of them having their heads so far up their rectums that they can see their dinners digesting...

And to add an insult to the  infjury the ways that so far allowed for changing the text in previous games no longer work.

  • I pre-loaded the game two days ago and I had German, English, Spanish, French and Italian as available languages.

Did a test launch just now and my game is mostly English. Some exceptions are there, like the buttons, they say Leer or Eingabe instead of Space and Enter but that's okay. In the options, text and voice language are set to English. When I come home from work tonight, I will play for the first time.

I still don't understand why EA is incapable of doing what any other gaming client can do, download a separate language pack when set to that language (if that pack is available in the first place)

  • Do you know what's worse?
All languages are already inside the game, but impossible to change due to Origin region lock.

It is not necessary to download any language pack, just need the goodwill of the origin to release the option to select the desired language.

Supposedly if you buy the game's key from an international provider like CDKEYS and activate it in Origin in Poland, the game will still be in original english voice and text. I haven't tried it yet, am awaiting confirmation.
