I guess the in place upgrade might point to some OS file corruption or perhaps some configuration that was disagreeing with ME:A.

True, but that this is a Windows problem was pretty clear from the beginning.

I would still suggest that, if you someone has the same problem, try the previous steps, like SFC /scannow with previous repair of the store, and the VC++ installations before the in place upgrade.

Ok will do but hopefully this won't happen again!

Now I can finish the ME:A finale. 👍

    @PhAse-Shifter-nz

No need for you to do it.🙂

It was for people that have the same or a similar problem. (Should have worded it better, sorry)

A failed VC++ installation will not wreak the system, a failed in place upgrade might very well do.

  • It absolutely infuriates me that over three years after this post first started EA is still as incompetent as ever. I started replaying the entire ME saga a month or so ago and have gotten through ME, ME2, and ME3 with no problem (none of them require Origin - bought the old CDs/DVDs way back when). I launched ME Andromeda the other night just to check my settings, let Origin do it updates (major mistake), shut down the game, and now it won't launch. Per the majority of the posts I am re-installing/re-downloading the game - which is going to take the better part of 3 hours.

And just a comment for al of the MS haters out there, I'm running Win 10, did not do any updates to the OS, and the game launched fine before the Origin update. This is an EA issue and they are probably loving the fact that so many people are pointing the finger at MS.

This thread makes one thing abundantly clear - EA does not give a tinker's damn about its customers. Once they have your money you are on your own and they are laughing all the way to the bank. I hate this company with a bloody passion.

Replying to my own post - DOH!

The truly sad part about all of this is that I would really like to have gotten the ME: Legendary copy of the games slated for release this Spring, primarily for the upgraded graphics and game play enhancements to ME. The problem is that EA will undoubtedly tie it to Origin which will just screw the pooch. Besides, it's nothing more than a money grab anyway. I can get the improved graphics - minus all of the headaches - over at Nexus. I'm sure there is a special place in Hell reserved for people at companies like EA.

So, here we are 2 hours 40-couple minutes later and the game has been re-downloaded/re-installed and it launches without a hitch. Gee, who'd have thought?

This is not a .NET issue. This is not a Visual C++ issue. This is an EA/Origin issue!

But don't worry; EA won't feel bad if you search dozens of user groups and gamer help posts. In fact, they love that you do that because then they don't have to pay for professional customer service personnel. They get your money then they get you to provide free help for all of the people who can't play the game because EA is a bunch of losers who love sticking it to their customers.

    Happy Gaming!

So was it just a reinstall that got it working? I've already tried to uninstall and reinstall once, so I guess I'm out of luck then?

I agree though. EA doesn't care. Do you know how many time an EA tech has successfully resolved an issue of mine? Zero. I've never had a successful interaction with EA support.

If you want to complain about EA feel free to do so, it will however not make the game run.

If you want help, create a DxDiag in text file format and post it with your next reply. You can do that  with the "Choose file" button at the bottom right corner of the reply window.

Please preform a clean boot and test the Game in clean boot mode.

Make sure your virus scanner and other security software and also Afterburner and similar software is disabled.

Make also sure that your GPU & CPU are not overclocked.

    Well Howdy y'all,
May 23, 2020 and I purchased and installed Mass Effect Andromeda. I already had ME1,2 & 3 happily working away.
Mass Effect Andromeda has defied EVERY attempt to get it to run so far.

I have, from time to time, scoured the forums for solutions and in December last year initiated 2 help tickets that never came back to me.

I am still having the very same issue that I had  just over a year ago - that is -
Launch the game and although task manager shows it running I have only a blank screen (black) in the top left third of my monitor. I have tried everything that I have read (here) so far and absolutely nothing has corrected the situation.

Simple question then - I want to play Mass Effect Andromeda Deluxe Edition (my game) and I can't. How do I get around this "non-starter" issue?

    My system is

Computer is HP All-in-one desktop PC, Intel Pentium CPU G3260T @ 2.90 GHz
16.0GB installed RAM, 64 bit operating system, x64 based processor

Software Windows Home 10 vers. 2004, OS Build 19041.985 with Windows Feature Experience pack 120.2212.2020.0 and Touch screen support with 10 touch points.

    Operated using Keyboard and Mouse

Realtek HD Speakers on board and Intel (R) HD Graphics (onboard)

    - I have absolutely no issues with ME 1, 2 or 3 and I am seriously in love with them all... just not "Andromeda" because I haven't been able to play it since purchasing it. Can someone please give me a definitive, concise, step-by-step answer so I can play Andromeda

    Kind regards,
    Captain Patient

Your CPU is a 2 core 2 threads Pentium Processor, the minimum System Requirements demand a 4 core 4 threads CPU.

You also didn't list a dedicated GPU, so I assume you don't have one.

In short, your system just doesn't meet the system requirements to run Andromeda.

I did the clean boot again just to see if anything changed in a week, but nope. This is after reinstalling it and having it uninstalled for said week as well.

It's weird because it says I'm in game, but there's no indication it's running other than EA Desktop pretending it is. There's nothing in task manager, I don't see a window anywhere, nothing.

One week is a long time for a computer, so please create a new DxDiag in text file format and post it with your next reply.

Do you use EA Desktop to launch and if so do you need EA Desktop to launce because you are at the MS game pass?

There is a newer driver for your Gtx 1080 available. Download it from here.

Install the graphic driver this way:

    • shut down any not necessary programs in the background. (including your virus scanners real time protection)
    • shut down any and all system monitoring programs and any overlooking tools you might have.

    • Run the installation EXE > CUSTOM mode > preform a clean installation > install only the GPU Driver and the PHYSX software.

(don't deselect components you need even if the have the same version number, the installation program will de-install them if you do)
    • Reboot > test.

    If that don't helps:

Make sure EA Desktop or Origin is closed.

Go to your "Documents\BioWare\Mass Effect Andromeda" folder and move the "Save" folder to your desktop > Test.

As well an old bug about the achievement Teamwork: create six strike teams or earn 25 assists medals in multiplayer, i opened a case talking to the support team and the answer was: As checked with the team this is a known issue and many of our players are facing the same however need not to worry as our team is investigating the issue and hopefully this will be fixed soon.

I hope they are truly working on a patch to fix all other problems as well like the enemy stuck up in the air. I only heave 2 achievements left unfinished, the first one is the one i talked about and the second is cryptographer: you need to complete 20  remnant puzzles, and i think that one is bugged as well, not sure because i did not keep count of them  in my last 3 playthroughs, but now i keep count 13 completed as of now, i did not use any decryption key.Soon i will be able to confirm this.

Studio support for MEA ended in 2017, so if Bioware is not changing its mind there are no further patches coming.

@holger1405 i know that but why does the support team say that there is a team working on fixing problem for MEA? At least thats what they said when i talked to them 2 days ago.

Oh dear, I think i know what happened here. It looks like there was a mixup between products, and the agent in question referenced updates to that product rather than Andromeda. I apologize for any confusion that has arisen from this. We'll tag this as something to be more careful about going forward, and thank you for bringing this to our attention.

As Holger has mentioned, Andromeda is no longer in active development.

Thank you for your response my dear Holger,
I supposed that, since I happily play ME1, 2 and 3 that my equipment would be able to accommodate "Andromeda".

Odd that Origin would put the one game outside of the playing parameters of the other Mass Effect titles.

    Again, many thanks.
    T.

    Nochmals vielen Dank.
    T.

    @mcdamage62

    You're welcome!

To add, Origin itself has nothing to do with that.

Andromeda is just a much "younger" game. The graphic engine it uses is different and the graphical features are just much more demanding than what was used in the older games.

  • Yes I did manage to get it working, but you might not like the method. Since I had similar issues with Dragon Age Inquisition, I had a feeling there was a problem with the registry so I tooled around with it. While I got it working for Inquisition in the day, it didn't work for Andromeda so I went nuclear--I (soft) reformatted my C drive. I was wanting to do it for a while, so it wasn't super drastic for me but it's pretty hardcore just for a game.

Good news is it booted up fine after that. I really think if you don't have a perfect install using EA Desktop or Origin, it will taint your registry somehow in a way that's really, really hard to undo.
