ME1 Citadel FPS Drops
Hi, I started ME1 earlier and was having a blast...until I got to the Citadel. Now I'm just frustrated. Essentially, the game has been running pretty much perfectly at 144 FPS. However, if I walk o...
Well, it is Unreal 3 so not the worst engine ever created. 😉
Also, the game runs very smooth in other places, so this is clearly dependant on the location.
The problems on the Citadel and on some planets seem to be clearly CPU related, meaning everything is done by just one thread.
The problems on Dr. Saleon's ship are different, I even saw reports that the worst problems only starts if you kill Dr. Saleon.
I hope hat at least some of this is fixed in the upcoming patch.

The problems on the Citadel (and other NPC hubs) and the issues with the UNC planets are different. One just has views that have an outsized performance impact; if you use the internal monitoring tools, you can see there's something very wrong happening on the procedural worlds (the game is just rubber banding between normal and massive frame time spikes).
I expect they'll fix whatever issue exists on those planets (at least I really hope they will), but I honestly don't think we'll see much improvement to the hubs unless they find an obvious optimization target.
