What? How is that relevant? I'm talking about the way we can acquire new weapons/characters. Not complaining about difficulty or balance. Seems like I'm really the only one who find that annoying. Interesting
You don't need to pay ££ for them, it's the same as most online games these days..be patient and earn credits etc to pay for random loot, and hope, or hand over your cash and get them all quicker..
Frankly, I don't really know how gaming companies get away with it, it's effectively gambling, creating an addictive environment where with ££ investment, you have x chance of winning something..I mean, I pay, but then I'm a hard working, earning adult.. But exposing young kids to that kind of thing? Poor form in my opinion.

I don't play multiplayer much to be honest, but for example in Gwent you get new cards in a similar way but you can deconstruct cards that you don't want and make the ones you do. I guess that will drive down the sells of those boxes so EA won't allow it, which feels skeevy but I shouldhave expected as much when I go in... I guess AAA multiplayer is just not for me

Yup, they do it on games like Fifa etc, and the odds of getting the best items in those packs are insane. Seen people spend thousands on youtube and still not get them. Yet people still buy them, why? It's addictive.. As i said above, surprised they can get away with it.. Wouldn't let an under 18 in a casino, and probably get better odds there too 😛
But why is it annoying then? I think it's okay since it allows the players to play with every gun, so no need to make the system easier IMO.

If you genuinely want to understand then I'll try to explain.
I don't like the feeling that I earn a box, then I get another freaking pistol I don't and won't use, a character I don't like the play-style of or another of these items that I can buy buy the hundreds with Mission Fund. If I wanted to experiment I will trust me.
It's frustrating with an under-current of manipulation which ruins the experience for me, whats the point of doing another game or opening another box? Because if I didn't get something useful I just wasted my time and that's annoying.

No... read both @b4rn5ey6490 and mine posts again, do you see any mention about one character being better/more useful than other?
We both talk about the problem in the random nature of the way we can acquire things in the MP mode. @b4rn5ey6490 mentions that it uses the same psychological traps as gambling while I express a more "first person" view of the annoyance with that fact, and to be more specific not being able to work towards things I want without wasting my time with things I don't, as well as a feeling that this system is implement to milk money from the players.
Just put a side any actual specific weapons or character and think about the mechanics themselves, this is NOT a balance/weapon/character strength issue

So this is still about weapon/character usefulness like I said in my first comment?
I think what @MyIDisNotYours is trying to say is, Lets say he has 5/8 Characters, and 5/8 weapons. He could play multiplayer for x amount of hours, buy 3 x loot boxes with his hard earned credits, and get nothing but duplicates, and still only have 5/8 Characters, and 5/8 weapons, rendering the time spent playing, wasted.
Instead, duplicates should be broken down into something, say parts, or further currency which then allows you to buy certain objects. A system similar to Overwatch maybe, where loot boxes have a chance of providing currency, and duplicates give currency - this currency can then be spent on a specific item.
At least that way you are working towards an objective, rather than everything coming down to luck.

I'm talking not only about duplicates. I do feel it should apply to anything, but your example reinforces my point.
