Re: Why do I need EA account to play Mass Effect on Steam?

I still don't understand. Older games also came with copy protection on the physical disks.

What I also experience is that the game takes a long time to start.

When I click it, I see some popups in the background that starts the EA manager.

It also starts the game in the background and I have to manually click the game from the task bar to focus and bring it to the front.

So my overall experience is that it looks like there's a lot of bloatware around the game which is actually not needed to play the game.

But it is there, and nobody can tell me why it's there and why it's giving me a lesser gaming experience?

Because people pirate games, and developers and publishers lose money.  It would be great if everyone was honest and paid for all their games, and we in turn received DRM-free copies, but that's not how things work these days, unfortunately.
