  • Well 10 year old actually game breaking bugs haven't been and aren't being fixed, so...

Also one could argue that it is very much game breaking since it completely ruins the atmosphere and immersion that is a huge aspect of Mass Effect. Deciding the fate of entire worlds or witnessing the death of beloved friends while making silly cartoon faces probably isn't the intended game experience.

    No, one canโ€™t.  ๐Ÿ˜‰
A "game breaking bug" is a bug that makes it impossible to move forward in the game or to play it at all.

That and only that is a game breaking bug.

I know many people that are annoyed or angry about a bug call the specific bug game breaking, but often it simply isn't.
It is annoying and it might be immersion breaking, it is not game breaking.

  • If you think that immersion, the story, and the main character don't matter at all in the Mass Effect games, then sure. Everyone enjoys them in their own way.

None of this changes that the glitch is still there.

No one said that. Just that terms have meanings. A bug can be huge without being game-breaking.

Not being able to recruit Thane and Samara in ME2 -> Huge bug, not game-breaking.

Saving your game in Zelda: Twilight Princess after the bridge collapses, then loading the save file and it puts you on the wrong side of the bridge so you literally can't progress -> Game-breaking.

As @Fred_vdp already mentioned, and more eloquent than I could have (Thanks Fred! ) I never implied nor did I meant to say that immersion is not important in a game like Mass Effect.

It is exactly as Fred said, terms have meanings.

This is a serious and very annoying bug, but as said, it is not game breaking.

  • And as I already mentioned, it breaks immersion, constantly and in a big way, so might as well call it game breaking unless you don't think that immersion, the story, the characters are important in the Mass Effect games. No need to repeat ourselves.

Now that you and your friend conceded that this was about semantics (which you brought up to begin with) we can get back on the actual topic:

"Serious and very annoying" means that it is serious and very annoying, I hope we can agree on that? And unlike 10 year old bugs that do break the game and haven't been fixed yet, this one seems to be new in MELE as far as I know. Specifically in ME3 only. It is also trivial to fix. Trivial fix for a serious and very annoying drawback that has been known pretty much since launch and has been reported multiple times. Way less significant fixes have been patched too, more than once, so the argument about there being more serious issues to fix and no time goes out of the window. After this little detour, my original question still stands.

Repeating what you think it is don't change what it actually is.

I am also not aware of any "10 year old bugs that do break the game". But there are bugs, some of them serious, that are indeed not fixed yet.

So, you asked why it is not fixed and I answered why I think it is not fixed.

And that is all what you will get here because this is a moderated player help players board.

Bioware is not posting here (Don't know if they are reading.) and non of us, including the CMs, know with certainty why it is not fixed and if it will get fixed.

Might as well call a cow a chicken, unless you're saying that milk isn't as good as eggs.

  • You are the ones who repeated yourselves. You are the ones who brought up the comparison, not me. There are10 year old game breaking bugs - at least one was very recently posted in this very forum - and you are aware of this. EA community reps do read post here and you know this very well.

Look, if you don't want to stay on topic that's on you - even your posts get this issue visibility and hopefully get us closer to a solution for everyone, including you. So thank you for contributing and you're welcome if and when this is ever fixed.

"non of us, including the CMs, know with certainty why it is not fixed and if it will get fixed."

    CMs = EA Community Managers.

And as you said yourself, this was reported weeks ago, so this thread will not determine whether it is fixed or not.

But I hope it will get fixed, although I never use a helmet. ๐Ÿ™‚
