Resetting settings

Hi, I'm new to this forum, but I'm experiencing an issue that I couldn't find anywhere else. It happens in ME2 and ME3. Every time I restart the game it resets the controls settings, meaning that the mouse sensitivity is put back to default at 50% and mouse dampening turns on. The same thing happens to Vsync that turns on as well.

I tried to solve this thinking that the save file was being overridden by One Drive, but that turned out not to be the case. I am using EA Desktop to launch the game, tried to repair it via Origin with no avail as well.

What could it possibly be? Is it a bug? I can play the game normally but is kind of annoying to need to change the settings every time I want to play the game.

Did you set the "GamerSettings.ini" to read only?

If not it will be overwritten at any game start.

    Try this first.

    • Make sure Origin and Steam are closed.
    • Go to your "<drive>:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\Mass Effect Legendary Edition\Game\ME2\BioGame" folder.
      (Steam: <drive>:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Mass Effect Legendary Edition\Game\ME2\BioGame" )
    • Move the "Config" folder to your desktop.
    • Start the game from the MassEfect2.exe running the exe as Administrator. (Right click the exe > Run as Administrator.)
    • Apply your settings.
    • Test.

All other settings you changed from default don't reset?

Is this also happening if you start the game with Origin?

    Do you use any mods?

No, just these settings reset, any other graphical settings including resolution remain the same.

Yes, it also happens when I start the game with Origin.

No, I do not use any mods.

I tried to add a command line to GamerSettings.ini inside the game folder to turn off mouse dampening, but that does not work either.

Yesterday I was messing with some settings in the game, and all of a sudden, the settings remained the same after a restart. Apparently the "read only" in GamerSettings.ini did the trick, I do not know for certain.

Did not report it earlier because I wanted to test the game first after a full shutdown of the PC. And the settings remained as I changed. I do not know what was the cause, and only tested it in ME3, as I already finished ME2.

I'd like to thank for your support in this issue, I'm glad it's resolved.
