I downloaded the June 7 update today and applied it. I then attempted to run ME2, which I am about halfway through. Apparently, the update deleted a bunch of my save files. All the achievements associated with my progress are still showing on Steam, but all my save files for the past week are gone. I've lost hours and hours of progress and I don't want to just start over.
What do I do about this?
Did you checked if the save files are really gone from your hard drive?
(Not only that the game can't load them.)
Can you save the game if you play now?
Yes, I checked the hard drive (C:\Users\[USER]\Documents\BioWare\Mass Effect Legendary Edition\Save\ME2\Character) - everything from after May 31 is gone.
I can save in game, though I've lost the will to play for the time being. Re-doing all that stuff (including scanning a bunch of planets for upgrade resources) isn't exactly an exciting proposition at the moment.
This is strange, the patch process normally would not touch the Save folders.
You might have a chance to get the saves back if either the Origin cloud save function works with Steam games or if you have the Steam cloud save feature activated. But I don't know if the first works with Steam games and if the MELE is supporting the second.
Interesting idea... is there a way to switch between cloud save sources somehow?
The Origin cloud Save function is normally activated by default.
Afaik steam’s cloud save function must be activated.
But as said, I don’t know much about them, I back up my save files locally.
I think I'm Having the same issue. I was level 24 and had multiple save files but when I just booted up the game I was level 19 on old mission (jacks Loyalty) that I completed serval mission after that. Really frustrating considering I'm playing on Insanity mode.
