Screenshots cannot be taken and results in "invalid image"

Hi everyone.

I bought the trilogy version because my 2008 copy doesn't work on a Win8 system anymore.
All the screenshots I've taken for ME1 turned out to be ~5mb file each with a black background stating "invalid image" in red.
I've googled and found no relevant content after viewing 20 pages.

I've already set all the executable files to compatibility mode and run as administrator. No luck. My printscreen programme doesn't work on the game so I'm relying on the in-game feature, but now this happens.

Please provide assistance. Thank you!

  • Try opening the images with another graphics program, NOT with "Paint" or "Picture Viewer" that are included with Windows.

I use Irfan View, but there are others.  It seems to understand how to ignore the metadata (game time, game location, etc.) that BioWare encodes with each image.  NOTE:  If you re-save the file, (not just "Close" it) that data is lost, but now "Paint" can open the image file just fine.  (Go figure...)
