Selling Mass Effect Annhilation and other novels via Origin

I'm very excited about the upcoming novel, but I don't really trust other online stores beside Origin, since it's EA game novel. and Origin is EA platform, why not selling the novel via Origin? I think it could bring lot's of readers to get the story, I've seen Soundtracks and Concept Art on Origin, so I think that selling electronic book is also possible, what do you think?

  • Hey @mathematics654

Thanks for posting your suggestion on our forum 🙂

While I think it would be a great idea to have everything (games, novels, comics, OSTs, etc.) in one place, the biggest challenge here is to provide a software, which would allow the user to access the novel in a comfortable way, while still making it limited to Origin 🤔 Unfortunately, we cannot just upload the .pdf file and Origin app doesn't have a mobile version. So there are a few things to consider here 😉

But again, thank you for sharing your lovely idea with us!

  • Well, first thing I thought when I read the blurb on Amazon was "Well, why wasn't that DLC?". My guess is that with the kerfuffle over ME:A being less than it could be, what the fans expected, or what BioWare was capable of, it got tabled.

As for buying it on Origin, I already dislike Origin as a platform for games. I just don't really have a choice. Amazon, however, I have a long standing 19 year relationship with. It's where I got all my other BioWare related titles, and I'm good with keeping them all on my Kindle/Audible/dead-tree library there.

I do  have music that I downloaded through Origin, so I don't think your idea is without merit - I just wouldn't buy it that way. My music came as sound tracks to whatever game I purchased through Origin.  Although, I think some of them I bought through Amazon, and just redeemed via Origin.

I think it was intended to be DLC, or at least in part. If I recall correctly, the book was planned but then postponed when the DLC was cancelled, I assume to include its scrapped story.

The DLC was likely deemed not profitable enough due to the game's disappointing sales, so EA merged BioWare Montreal with Motive and had them make Star Wars Battlefront II DLC instead.

I'm sorry to hear that it's rather problematic to get the book in Isreal ☹️ In such situations, I usually suggest Amazon's services if they're available in your country.

And Mass Effect Andromeda might not be my favourite Mass Effect game, but I really enjoyed it as well ❤️
