So...i tried the Inferno today

And my ears are bleeding..

I always been a huge fan of the bigger it hits the better so i've been using the Black Widow from the beginning. Researched Vanquisher as well to the same level just to see the difference and many times it did just enough damage to leave the enemy with a tiny bit of hp so i stuck with the BW however i liked the sound of the Vq. better also the bigger clip size.

Now that i had a lots of research points as in this playthrough i dont need anything other than the cryo gauntlet from the remnant tree i thought i give a shot to the Inferno. Seemed decent, lower damage but higher rate of fire. Alright...level VI, some augments, mods. Lets test this bad boy.

Although the damage is significantly lower, the rate of fire makes up for it which creates a in my opinion a greatly balanced weapon. On insanity i torn apart enemies with ease (tac. cloak only), i really enjoyed it plus no reload. But the sound of it....seriously...how did BW thought its gonna be a good idea to give a such high pitch firing sound for a weapon that has a relatively huge rate of fire compared to a sniper rifle.

Yeah, there's the option to turn down the sfx volume but then you eliminate any other sound effects as well...

After about 15 minutes of intensive gunfire i had to take a break cuz my ears just couldnt take it anymore...a shame for an amazing SR, but maybe only my ears are that sensitive.

Or maybe they used deaf people to test sound effects and blind people to work on face expressions. :eahigh_file:

P.S.: now, seriously, someone decided to use and repeat sounds in unbearable ways in this game, either by making weapons too loud, or SAM's repetitive notes, or Zap's high tech sound effects. There's a tremendous lack of finesse there.

Makes sense then. However facial expressions didnt bother me that much...the trilogy suffered from this problem at countless cutscenes but in general the animations were better, and the characters felt more lively i give you that.

Im not used to complain (i even got flamed at the bug reports expressing my too calmed attitude in a wrong manner) but this one was waay over the limits. Of course if it would be some junk sniper i would just ditch it and move on...😞

Oh well...i got used to that. Annoying but i just dont care about SAM anymore. Not sure if its a good thing or not :D About Zap...not using it. Not a fan of constructs. But sure there are a lot of flaws in the sound effects and many other things, it just depends on us if we can deal with them. Im a tolerant person until the thing im into is not how i want it and i know its not gonna get changed.

Becuase its not gonna be...for bugs there's a chance. But i dont think its gonna happen with the sfx unless its some huge game breaker thing.

I'm a sniper rifle character but haven't tried the Inferno yet, but I've been eyeballing it in the R&D terminal and may give it a try as I also like to have at least one gun that has really high damage even with a low clip capacity.  Currently using the  Widow (not the Black Widow which has  less damage but larger clip size & fire rate) for my heavy long range SR, one round clip size, but high damage, especially when equipped with a plasma augmentation.  Secondary SR is still the Incisor SR, which has much lower damage per shot, but fires in 3 round bursts (that rise as you shoot so you need to aim low and let the rounds rise to the head) and has a higher clip capacity (about 20).  It's kind of a cross between a SR and an assault rifle.

@Rand207 I think the Isharay outclassed the Widow if we look at the single shot rifles. It costs you research points but affordable as its a rare weapon.

As for the Incisor, for me it was junk in the trilogy as well. Didnt bother to give it a try, also dont like the constantly aim low if i wanna hit the head. I like better the one nice shot on the head and he's gone, which the BW does. Thats what SR's are for isnt it? But everybody have different taste and i respect that.

Try the Inferno, you gonna have a blast. If you dont mind the annoying sound at firing then im sure its gonna be a successor of the Incisor. If you are afraid just do a save game before researching and developing it so if you dont like it just load it and thats it.

I prefer the Black Widow myself /w double mod+battlefield assist + 2 (3 with pod) kinetic coils. Goes well over 1k at higher levels and you get four shots per clip.

@Vellu78 I agree, the BW is superior, but the Inferno is more fun. The Vanquisher is somewhat between the 2 with bigger clip size and reduced damage compared to the BW but lower rate of fire than the Inferno. Single shot rifles were never my favorite ones, because at times i tend to be a terrible shot, missing all 4 bullets even with the BW.

The Inferno would be a fun weapon, because it really is. You can miss shots, and keep being on scope not losing the sight of your target because of the heatsink. Awesome rate of fire which makes up for the low damage/bullet.

Guess i'll just continue using the BW...however the Inferno almost took her crown. Its like you dating a girl..she's very attractive and fun, you have a lot of things in common.. and after the 3rd or 4th date she takes you to her apartment , takes her shoes off and you almost faint because her feet smell worse than yours after a 12 hrs shift.
