"ssleay32.dll missing"; ME2 won't launch

Question

Mass Effect 2 won't launch, despite working yesterday. The ssleay32.dll file exists, but it is in the Core folder of the Binaries. The error (ssleay32.dll missing) shows up when I Troubleshoot compatibility with MassEffect2.exe. I've tried every fix listed on here: renaming the MassEffect2 and ME2Game.exe files, running CCleaner, and copy pasting the ssleay file into the Binaries folder, as well as the basic uninstall/reinstall the game, checking for updates and repairing through origin, and enabling origin beta. Nothing has worked and I'd really appreciate some help.&nbsp;

Try deleting any ssleay32.dll from the following location: C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\Mass Effect 2\Binaries\Core

There are a few different versions of that file and not having the right one at that location will be a problem.

After deleting the file, right click and Repair Game to replace the file.

I got the same problem since four days, I already re-installed the game and Origin but it did no good. Trying to run ME2 with admin-rights didn't work too...So if someone got a solution, please reply!

Try downloading and installing the most recent version of Origin and retry.

Same here. &nbsp;played, took a few weeks off, then went to play and it wouldn't load. &nbsp;I ended up &nbsp;downloaded everything &nbsp;again last week and it worked. &nbsp;This morning I went to play it and wouldn't load. &nbsp;Really irritating.&nbsp;
