Stuck on Checking Downloadable Content on PS3

I can no longer play Mass Effect 3. I have been playing for years but the last couple of weeks, it will stay on the Main Menu, and it will eternally check for Downloadable Content. I can connect to the EA servers by pressing the triangle button, but while the "Checking Downloadable Content..." banner still loads. I can't access the normal menu and it won't let me start a new game or load anything. This is on Playstation 3. My internet connection is fine and I can play all of my other games without issue.

Gotcha. Would you mind giving this a shot as well? Disconnect your PS3 from the internet again so you can start up the game. Once you're in, open up the Settings and look for the option for connecting with Origin. Try disabling and re-enabling that and see if it helps at all.

Hey @funsizefae. There's a couple things that we can try that might help with this. First, try disconnecting your PS3 from the internet before you start up Mass Effect 3. That may allow you to get past this error when you start up the game. You should then be able to reconnect to the internet once you're past that message.

Another possible workaround that I've seen help with this would be to uninstall and reinstall any DLC you've currently got installed for ME3. I've heard from a few people who said they were able to start up the game after reinstalling.

@funsizefae Did you have a chance to give those steps a shot? Are you still having any trouble starting up ME3?

  • @EA_Kent Thanks so much for the quick reply. Turning the internet off did get me into the game, but once back on it did it again, so I'm currently reinstalling all of the DLC to see if that fixes things for good. Either way, at least I can play again 🙂
  • @EA_Kent So after uninstalling and reinstalling the content, I still can only play if I disconnect the internet beforehand. This is still a problem since I can't do any of the multiplayer features, but at least I can play some of the game. Hopefully, this can be fixed in the future.
