SpoilerIf you don't convince Avitus to become the new pathfinder for the Turians he won't be there to support in the end fight and can't protect the Hyperion with the other pathfinders. Therefore Captain Dunn dies. You need all three additional Pathfinders to save her.

Tough one.
In my second play through,I went to the meeting before I got all the arks.
Even though I saved all the arks,not all the species were there at the end mission....and that mattered.
