I found this, and hopefully it helps you.

You can even enter the game. Here are the solutions to overcome it. Give it try one by one. 1. Turn off your anti virus before launching the game, and turn it on back after playing. It is better for you if you have Windows Defender disabled. 2. Disable the EA Origins in-game. 3. Turn off the SLI/Crossfire before starting the game. Check whether it stabilizes the game performance. 4. Try playing the game in Windowed mode. It often works for low-end PCs. 5. Update your Nvidia/ATI graphics drivers. 6. Disable the V-sync. 7. Disable the anti-aliasing and filtering. 8. Disable the background apps. 9. Right click on the Mass Effect exe file in Windows 7 > Go to the ‘Compatibility Mode’ tab and check ‘Disable Desktop Composition’. 10.Try using only one GPU first. Turn the other one off through your Nvidia/ATI graphics control panel.

site I read this on: http://www.ask-laptop.com/games/mass-efefct-3-crash-to-desktop-fix.html

    Another is

    Crash To Desktop (ATI)
For ATI Card users, you may try  setting Catalyst A.I. Settings to Performance (Not Quality) to fix this issue.

Mass Effect 3 Crash To Desktop, Low Frame Rate, Freezing  Fix If you come across any of these issues, first thing you should  check is if your video card is using the high end graphics driver. If it isn’t,  you should force it to use these.

    How To

    • Search for “Nvidia Setting”, it should have come with your computer. Open  the program
    • Go to 3D setting, Select the “Manage 3D Settings”
    • Now click the “Program Settings” Tab
    • Click the “Add” Button
    • Navigate to “File Path..\Origin\Mass Effect 3 Demo\Binaries\Win32″ and click  on the “MassEffect3.exe”
    • Now you’re free to decide how the graphic cards handle the program.
    • Underneath the above option, you should find the “Select the preferred  graphics processors for this computer”.
    • Tell it to choose “High Performance NVIDIA processor” it may vary, but the  idea is the same.
    • Don’t forget to look at the bottom left and click the “Apply” button.
    • Restart the game and Origin to make it WORK!

Site I read this on: http://segmentnext.com/2012/02/26/mass-effect-3-errors-crashes-freezes-frame-rate-fix-origin-and-fixes/#ixzz2OjvdZKvX

I hope any of this helps you, because I know how much of a pain these issues can be. Good luck 🙂
