It also could be by design; as each tries to outdo the other. Not sure why Remnant tech would have varying levels of success fighting against it (since some planets seem to have their remnant tech broken at all different levels of planetary destruction) but it would explain why the Turian golden world completely blew apart. Habitat 7 *was* beginning to come apart.
Scourge as Viral Ai/programming for Remnant tech.

If we consider the turian golden rubble was destroyed by a vault malfunctioning, yes. Although, it still makes it fishy that vault had different purposes rather than terraforming when it was reset. I still think it was built after a disaster of some kind, caused by we-don't-know-who.

Possible I suppose. IIRC there were a few +270 sites that were apparently caused by space weapons, I believe a torpedo was mentioned once.

I wonder how different the damage would be between disruptor torpedoes and the scourge if the scourge didn't' stick around afterwards?

Yeah, and the lack of Scourge is telling whether vaults were occurring or not back then, I reckon.
