@mckrackin5324 Sorry, no idea about controller support, I much prefer keyboard & mouse.
@holger1405 I think it adds a lot, though there's still a lot of stuff they still want to do. Some of the stuff is cosmetic (new objects in the ship, mostly, as well as letting you appoint staff and guards), though there are missions, and they do impact your readiness rating (and your choices throughout the series impact some of them). I like it, new stuff to do is always good. I've banned myself until they add more content/missions.
I'm tired and not great at explaining stuff at the moment. It's a DLC mod, so it's easy to install if you want to try it. 🙂
I also play only with keyboard and Mouse, so no idea about controller support either.
Why do you insist on the controller? You wrote that you didn't play ME1 because of the lack of controller support, but imho mouse & keyboard are more accurate and also easier to handle.
Easy is good, I just finished Moding ME3 with any HD Mod I could find, including a few of my own using ME3 Explorer. That took a few hours. 😉
I will definitely give it a try.

Because these types of games are meant to be played lying down or reclined. lol
I play first person shooter(multiplayer)games at my desk but looooong RPGs? I play those lying in bed or in a recliner. Hours at a time 😉
I've been off work sick this week and played this game three times all the way through...I don't want to sit at my desk 14 hours a day.lol
Funny that I play the game on controller with the lowest camera sensitivity possible...probably about 300 DPI compared to a mouse...but play my mouse on a two speed set up (850 DPI and 1450 DPI). I shift gears under my pointer finger and most abilities are on the mouse or under a resting finger on my G13 keyboard/game pad.
Problem is...with the controller support unlocked, keyboard is disabled so I had to choose between controller and m/kb permanently because I still haven't learned how to get two full and working versions of the game on my PC yet.
I do have the keyboard version on a hot swap HDD but they conflict with each other if I don't unplug my main gaming SSD.

You need a better office chair. 😉
But seriously, you should play ME1 if you liked the two other games, it's wohrt it.

@mckrackin5324 Have you had a look at this controller mod for ME1? Not something that interests me, so I can't say if it's any good, but if you're attached to using a controller maybe it's an option. 😛

Doesn't work.
I'm a member at Nexus and watch them all.
Thanks
