Looks to me as if some locally saved game files on your PS3 have become corrupt. Other than that - since you think it's some EA server-side problem. Have you tried disabling Internet on your PS3 and starting ME3 offline? You should still be able to play Single Player and this way you'd be sure if it's something serverside. Other than that you could only try it on someone else's PS3.
Hi 1ago,
I appreciate the time and reply to my request for assistance. Yes I did delete the game utility data files as per the instructions you referenced above. I also disabled the Internet and tried starting ME3 offline. I got past the first splash screen and into character customization. The PS3 froze. I have tried to get EA Tech Support to really look at my IDs and their servers problems with PSN but to no avail.
I'll try the last suggestion you made: trying it on some else's PS3. The only problem with that is that my nephew is in the Marines (boot camp) and I can't get him to lend me his PS3. I'll place this game in the back burner for the time being. Nothing else I can do, without EA Tech Support to straighten my ID's and look into the Patch ( ver 1,08) which is another problem I have in being able to play even the Single Player option.
Thanks again for the reply and for your time and suggestions.
P.S. By the way, I saw in a thread, at another site, that there might be a problem with PS3's not having the correct port open that corresponds with the IP address that EA and PSN servers have for Mass Effect 3. That stuff went over my head a bit. So, if you can help me understand that or provide a lead to where I can get the IP address in question, I truly appreciate it.
That's a very strange bug. You might also try deleting the save games of ME3 via the save-game utility, as maybe the local profile has bevome corrupt. Warning: you'll loose any progress from Single Player along with the settings that are saved there. But from what I gather you couldn't play Single Player at all, so there shouldn't be any progress to loose anyway.
Since ME3 still froze when you were offline I'm rather certain it has nothing to do with your port-settings (which are only relevant for Multiplayer anyway) or your profile on the EA-servers. Looks very much like a data curruption. If you've deleted the game-data and sava-data and after a fresh install ME3 is still crashing then my guess is your Hard-drive may have some damaged sectors. If the game works on your nephew's PS3 (or someone else's) the problem is pretty much located in your PS3.
