Given that scott/sara actually died from oxygen deprivation, what makes you think alec would've survived without a helmet? the only reason scott/sara even survived was because alec transferred SAM to them. Without SAM and a helmet, the argon/nitogen atmosphere would've surely killed him just like it killed your character.

yeah and sam killed us by stopping our heart if he can do that why couldn't he alter alec's lungs or put him into a state of near death and wake him up later. its not like making sara/scott pathfinder disconnects sam from his implant. it just give authority to them. plus if bioware can kill shepard and bring him/her back why not alec in a future game?
the key to make it possible is sam.

And Harry, the pronouncing doctor that Alec insisted come along. Just sayin'.
I wonder if Alec, being the utter over-preparing paranoid that he is, especially since he is hunting the Benefactor, went to the planet planning to "die" so he could run his op under the radar without endangering his kids.

Wait...at the beginning of "Planetside", Ryder could repair his/her own helmet faceplate with the omni tool, but at the end he/she couldn't? Why not? Ryder is not shown even trying to repair it. I found that strange. To the point that Alec "had" to remove his own helmet to place on his child to save their life. It certainly could have been that the faceplate was too far gone and Ryder realized it, but still......something to think about.

After the fall it was only a crack. At the end the visor is plain gone.

Just started my fourth playthrough (yeah, I know...) and the fall created more than a crack, a good sized chunk was missing according to the graphics. Yes, at the end the faceplate was missing from the nose up to the hairline, and it was most probably just the way the scene was written, but something seemed.....off.

Yes indeed, and all that role-play with his death, tells me Alec is going to be alive as an element of surprise. I could be wrong, but still no fuss or comment was made regarding Alec's body or funeral.
If SAM could kill and revive the kid, it can do the same with Alec. Apparently SAM could activate itself in all the Ryders, which tells me they all have an implant which is not active unless needed or instructed SAM to activate it.
Alec must've had a secondary plan in case something goes wrong.
Just like he didn't mention anything about his wife being hidden in a cryopod, except leaving clues. He could've easily instructed SAM to play the "part" and keep quiet. :eahigh_file:
