Who's the benefactor?
C'mon, just tell us. It should have been revealed in the game (cause ya know, you made it seem like the whole time we were working toward a reveal). I then assumed it would be in DLC (which is bullsh...

I thought that was ruled out?
And, it would be so lazy if that's the actual answer. And if that was the answer, why still hide it even at the end of the game? I don't recall any mention of Cerberus during ME:A either - maybe once or twice in passing. But Andromeda Initiative seems to be its own thing; especially considering nonhumans are involved.
If Cerberus is involved, they weren't part of the planning, just additional funding. Cerberus is pro-human, not anti-alien, so it would make sense if they sent some cash to the Andromeda Initiative in an attempt to save humanity even if it means saving alien races as well. They wouldn't mind that at all.
I think they intended to unravel that mystery in a sequel. Fingers crossed we'll eventually get one.

Considering the way events went down, it seems as if Cerberus had plans of their own involving the initiate anyways otherwise why did they get rid of Jian? Someones also seemingly interested in sabotaging relations between humans and other species - at the very least against the Krogan. An attempt to place humanity further up the top of the chain in Andromeda perhaps? I still think that Cerberus is involved... and more involved then it might appear - at the very least they have agents in place and its totally the kind of thing they would do. Funding AI's. The human AI being the most advanced of them all, how many other companies would be willing to play around with AI and how many would run in the other direction? The only one I know of not scared of them is Cerberus.
Guess we'll never find out but I'm more and more convinced it's Bioware themselves.
Since we were hot on their trail, they decided to make sure we wouldn't find them out, so they killed the game.
True story.

Given the importance of the Andromeda mission, especially for those who had figured out that the Reapers were coming early, there are probably several different agendas being played out in the background here, especially since, besides any Benefactor, Cerberus and at least one Shadow Broker almost certainly have agents aboard, likely along with agents of several other shadow organizations, the intelligence/special forces of most major governments, a few corporations, and who knows how many Geth and AIs.
Personally, what I think we should really be wondering about is what was going on during that systems crash halfway through the trip
