Why does my mineral survey not let me enter the letters in?

When I pull up my mineral survey it doesn't let me put in my letters. It seems to go on super speed. How many letters are there, 3? That's as fast as I can stretch it. Then I'm just guessing. Than...

@GhAhCrosby Hey, what game is this for? What Mineral Survey are we referring to? I don't recall being able to enter any letters when surveying into this game.

Hi,
Thanks for responding. It is Mass Effect Legendary Edition. I can't enter the letters in quick enough. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
