Why online only?
Why must I have an internet connection to play mass effect 1? There is no online multiplay and it makes no sense to have to log into origin everytime I want to play a single player game. If Steam does not detect an internet connection it asks if I want to start in offline mode. Perfect. Origin, no. You have to go online to go offline. I did the whole remember me on the login then went offline then removed internet and it still wants me to log in. This is why you are the worst for customer service in north america. Your over zealous drm is more than ridiculous. Its pathetic and sad. I will not be recommending this service to anyone I care about. I will continue to promote Steam to anyone I meet. origin and ea, I will insult and talk down.
Mass Effect can be launched straight from the executable file (in the installation folder under 'binaries'). A one-time validation may be required but you don't need to be online to play and you certainly don't need Origin.

If you don't like DRM, why promote a DRM client at all? As someone who doesn't like DRM, I buy games at CD Projekt's GOG whenever possible because all games they sell are DRM-free. EA sells some of their games DRM-free on GOG as well, though I would prefer to see more of their games on that site.
