They may own Frostbite, but the engine probably also uses licensed third party tools that they can't share.

Gotta disagree heavily. it is entirely about preference. I play hours upon hours of doom on pc, i use a gamepad because i always have, and i top the leaderboards over and over again against numerous K+M players. just like with fighting games, i use a fightstick, and get beat all the time by plain old Gamepad players. it comes down to comfort and familiarity. there is no superior control scheme. and anyone who tells you so is wrong. no peripheral is a true answer for skill and comfort.

Sadly I've tried both a PS4 and XBox Series X controller and both don't work on PC. XBOX controller gets this weird drift and PS4 using DS4Windows doesn't even get recognised. Very frustrating and disappointing!

It's hit or miss, so to speak, especially with wireless controllers.  Supposedly the May 17 patch improved the issue, but I don't use a wireless controller, so I don't know.

I do use a wired Xbox One controller, and it has worked flawlessly since day one.

there is NO controller support for steam version of Mass Effect Legendary Edition. Huge oversight, but the game doesn't recognize any controllers in my experience and barely works with mouse and keyboard.
