Xbox 306 Controller Works in Launcher, Not in Game

Set up:

Windows 10 PC

Xbox 360 wired controller

Launching through Steam

The controller is recognized in the ME launcher and in multiple other games both through Steam and not as well as other EA games launched through Origin, so there's no problem with the controller itself.  But when I actually load into ME1, the controller is not recognized.

Edit: I should add, because it's probably relevant, that when the game does load, the camera is spinning left. If I move my mouse right I can slow it down, but no reasonable mouse movement even fully counteracts the spinning. So it's unplayable even without using the controller.

    Try to repair the game.

(Origin > Game Library > right click MELE > Repair)
(Steam > Game Library > right click at MELE > Properties > Local Files > Verify integrity of game files.)

As you are on steam use both.

Is this is a wireless controller?

Do you have other input devices connected except mouse and keyboard?

If so disconnect them, restart the computer > test.

It is a wired controller. I do have a joystick connected. I'll try later tonight and see if that helps. If it does, that's at least semi functional work around until a real fix can be found, because I really don't think crawling under my desk to plug/unplug things every time I play a different game is not a great solution.

    No, it is not.
But it is doubtful that Bioware can reproduce this if they don't have the exact same joystick or even some other input devices you have, and there is no fix for such thing if they can't reproduce it.

    Unplugging the joystick did work.

But it didn't take me long googling to find lots of people with the same issue with lots of different other peripherals.  I was hoping that a better solution had been found since the last post about it, since I was a bit late to starting the game.  But I'm not inclined to give EA/Bioware a pass on this one because they couldn't test my specific joystick, since the problem seems more widespread than just my specific hardware set up.  But on the assumption that EA is never going to fix this, I'm open for software/setting level fixes that are still annoying but don't involve crawling under my desk, if anyone has found one.

Yeah, some combination of periphery hardware is blocking the input, this is a driver problem.

But you are right, I doubt Bioware will fix this, it is a long time since the last patch.

You can try if disabling the the joystick in the device manager or shutting down its controller software works.
