"a direct x 10 or better graphics card required" with better graphics card

hello,

I recently thought to play need for speed most wanted since I never quite played it after getting to own it a while ago, I installed it and decided to launch the game when I get a pop up giving the following message:

"ERROR

A DirectX 10 or better graphics card is required. Please ensure you are using a supported graphics card with up to date drivers."

I currently run a R9 390 with up to date drivers and everything. I can play new games like Battlefield 1, Titanfall 2 and Battlefront just fine, this game however refuses to launch, possibly because my graphics card is too new? I do't know. is there any way to fix this? or not...
