So you completed Mangus' Challenge with his car (not just any race)?
Have you tried logging out and logging back into Origin?
The only issue I had with achievements was with the 'buy your first hot rod' where i bought the Ford but it didn't unlock the achievement, so I bought the Beck Customs F132 and it worked.

yea it was pretty much inevitable you have to do it to progress and then I finished the story so technically if you become the speed icon that one should be unlocked. And I did later finish the prestige events of speed style all on gold and still no achievement
