can't connect to ea server on xbox 360

I can connect to any of ea servers on the 360 but need for speed the run is the one I am most annoyed about, I have followed all of ea's poor words of wisdom on trying to connect but no luck is there...

    I have checked your account and I have also checked the servers for this title, there is no issue I can see.
    I believe this is a connectivity issue.

    Just in case, make sure you have downloaded and installed the latest game update.The patch / title update is available on the Xbox LIVE Marketplace.

    If you are playing on Xbox 360, please enable the following online ports on your connection:

    • TCP: 53, 80, 88, 3074, 16260-16263, 16270-16273
    • UDP: 53, 88, 3074, 23600-23800, 33600-33800
      (Follow these steps for Xbox 360)

    I found here  and here post from other players with the same issue, they provided the steps that helped in resolving this issue.

    What is the error message displayed on the screen when trying to join the servers?
