DirectX error (not detecting VRAM)

I got the game at launch and completed the game but two months ago I got this error:

I originally thought It was my GPU and I was already planning on upgrading. So I bought a new 4Gb Geforce GTX 1050ti hoping it would fix this error, sadly I have had no luck. Please help

Current Setup:

Intel i5-7400

Nvidia Geforce GTX 1050ti (4GB)

8 gigs of ram

DVi input monitor

250Gb SSD

1TB HDD

Your machine may be defaulting to the Intel video processing on your CPU rather than your nvidia card.

    1. Open the nvidia Control Panel
    2. Click Manage 3D settings
    3. Click the Program Settings tab
    4. Click the Add button
    5. Select the game from the list or click browse and navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\Need for Speed Payback\NeedForSpeedPayback.exe
    6. Select NeedForSpeedPayback.exe and then Open
    7. Customise individual settings if you like
    8. Exit nvidia control panel and try playing.

Please try this and let us know if you how you get on. Thanks.

    Thanks for the Dxdiag.

    • Disconnect your webcam
    • Perform a Clean boot: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135
    • Run your video driver setup again and choose custom and then clean install
    • Set the nvidia power management mode to max performance as in the image below
    • Let us know how these steps go for you.

I tried this, didn't work, although the loading process was faster

Something else you may want to look into is whether or not your GPU is overclocked compared to the 'reference' clock speeds.

We have seen in the past that factory overclocked video cards can be a little unstable and a little "de-clocking" can help a lot.

You do not necessarily need to run at the reference clock speed but maybe somewhere between reference and factory overclocked speeds.

Side note: it is unfortunate that GPU makers do not have a number on the box relating to stability at the provided clock speeds. It has become something of an arms race with regard to factory overclocking, GPUs with higher numbers tend to sell better.
