I found a guide that fixes the stuttering, at least for me: https://forums.geforce.com/default/topic/523603/pc-games/60-fps-fix-for-nfsmw-2012-until-criterion-patches-it/
Set your Nvidia Control Panel to default or application controlled for the NFSMW profile if you had made any adjustments, especially Triple Buffering and Vsync...make sure those are either off or application controlled
You can leave Anisotropic Filtering at 16x
and FXAA ON if you'd like although I think the game overrides this
1. First install D3D Override
Download from link below (you have to wait for the countdown clock on the FREE download link)
http://www.sendspace.com/file/euti3m
(It runs along side Rivatuner)
2. Run D3D Override and click the Plus sign in the lower left corner
Browse to your NFS13.exe file
should be in > (games drive ex c:\Origin > Games > Need for Speed(TM) Most Wanted
Configure the program the following way:
http://www.filedump.net/dumped/capture1352681477.png
3. Go to your Documents folder
Documents>Criterion Games>Need For Speed(TM) Most Wanted>config.NFS13Save
Delete the config.NFS13Save file
4. Run the game again and then shut it down.
5. Go back to the newly created config.NFS13Save file in the documents folder above and make the following edits (or just cut and paste the contents below into that file) (***NOTE your resolution may be different so make those height and width adjustments as you see fit)
[Display] SSAOLevel=0 LockTo30=false HiResTextures=true FitToVertical=false ParticleShadows=true HeadlightShadows=true Scattering=true FrameLatency=0 MotionBlurLevel=3 ReflectionDetailLevel=2 LodScaling=1 VfxDetail=2 ScreenScale=0 Brightness=0 Contrast=0 Width=1920 Height=1080 GammaRamp=0.990 [Hardware] AdapterNumber=0 OutputNumber=0 [Settings] ShadowMapLevel=0 Webcam= [Sound] MusicVolume=8 SfxVolume=10 SpeechVolume=10 SpeakerSetup=0 Reverb=1 [Gameplay] EnableVibration=true
6. Run Game and enjoy 60 FPS with no lag or stutter...it may not be perfect but the closest I can get until EA/Criterion patch the game...either that or turn everything up Hi and run at a 30 FPS lock (ewwwwww...)
7. Enjoy and let me know if this works for you
What you are basically doing is running a Triple Buffering solution and an external Vsync lock via the D3D Override program. You are also leaving most settings at high but turning off the ones causing the jutter.
