Same issue here.
Every other cutscene works, but the 'Most Wanted' ones are very sluggish and usually crash the game.
System specs:
AMD Phenom II x4 955 BE
8GB RAM
AMD Radeon 5770
Windows 7 Home Premium
I'm having the same problem. Laggy cutscenes when challenging a Most Wanted driver and crashes during or after the cutscene. I did get to race sometime, but it crashed more than I got the race.

I too have this problem, with one added detail: Vista throws a DEP error my way. So I tried a bit to work around the DEP error, but to no avail.
My machine:
Vista 32bit
6670HD
4gb ram
Using a 360 controller for the game
Drivers/dX are up to date.
I tried all the solutions offered in this thread regarding to settings. The only thing that worked once is the strange "press a button, then skip button, but not reliably, failed to replicate it twice"
List what I tried:
- Run in Admin: Nothing
- Try to skip the cutscene: Succeeded once, failed 10+ times During the one success the cutscene was still choppy
- Turn on vsync 30 in config: Succeeded once, failed 3x During the one success the cutscene was still choppy
- Edit video settings: No effect
No second monitor, playing on my desktops resolution, windowed/full screen has no apparent effect.
I'm loading into the Lancia right next to race 10.
I have tried to contact EA support via Origin, and was very disappointed by the service. An hour+ wait after which a guy told me to clear my browser cache, which I did but I also said politely that it was unlikely to have an effect and that he hadn't even asked about the problem yet, at which point he 'forwarded' me (without my consent), which is now 20 minutes ago, no wait time listed, can't type in the chat window. It feels like being on hold indefinitely.
There is one simple solution for EA until they find a fix. Let us have an option to disable the Most Wanted Race cutscenes, because that's most likely the cause of all these crashes.
