Keep the online services working for NFS: Shift 2 Unleashed and NFS: The Run

Hello everyone at EA,

Due to the recent sad announcement of the delisting and online servers closure for NFS Carbon, Undercover, Shift, Shift 2: Unleashed and The Run, I would like to share with you my feedback and concerns regarding this decision, in what, I believe, is the point of view of most of the Need for Speed fans that are still playing these classic games.

Regarding the online server support for Need for Speed Carbon, Undercover and Shift, I completely understand the retirement of the online servers for these titles as they are the older games in the series with a small number of players.

However, Need for Speed Shift 2: Unleashed and The Run are the two most recent titles among these five and they still have an active player base. NFS The Run still has some full lobbies on weekends for example.

If we look at this case, seeing NFS Carbon (a game from 2006) and NFS Shift 2 and The Run (both games from 2011) shutting down on the same day it's just not fair at all.

And while I understand the shutdown of NFS Carbon, Undercover and Shift, it would be nice to have some more time to enjoy it's online features, so I suggest that EA postpone the servers closure date for these three games (Carbon, Undercover and Shift), for example until January 2022.

The other situation that left many Need for Speed fans very disappointed was the fact that these games were immediately removed from digital stores without notice.

For your information, many fans still want to buy these games to play the single-player even after the online features are removed.

So, please relist these games digitally and keep the online servers working for the foreseeable future in Need for Speed Shift 2: Unleashed and The Run.

    You are right, it's not acceptable EA closing Shift 2 Unleashed and The Run online servers, they were both relesed in 2011, they're not that old.
    Especially for Need for Speed The Run, it's a very active game, you can easly find players in the online mode at any time of the day, even the advanced tracks and DLC tracks are still active.

    Don't shutdown the servers for Shift 2 Unleashed and The Run. The most important being The Run since it has a very active online player count.
    Also, fix the error in the Autolog in The Run for PS3.

    Lol, you should've seen EA back in the 2000s then. They literally shut down games after 1-3 years. Burnout 3 lived for 5.5 years, which was considered a miracle when it comes to EA standards. NFS Carbon has been up for 14.5 years. These games have security issues (FESL & Blaze) and EA isn't interested at all to fix them. 10 years is good for a game that dropped support after 2 months

    It's not even the online features I'm missing right now - but it would be nice to be able to play at least the story-mode and campaign. isn't there maybe a commandline-switch /playoffline for 'the run'?

    Since they recently shut down Autolog servers when you launch the Run, the game stuck on opening screen indefinitely.

    Says ''connecting to autolog servers'' and wont let you play at all. Putting origin into offline will do nothing.

    The only solution i found is cutting internet connection for good. So disconnect your ethernet cable or wifi and you will be able to play the game.

    Any autolog/online feature wont be available for obvious reasons. 

    I know that EA will do absolutely nothing about this issue since its a legacy game. Just wanted people know in case they see this problem.

    If they'd finally give The Run the remaster, or at least backward compat it deserves, the weekend lobbies that have been going strong all this time would increase exponentially.
    E.g. There are few players because they haven't brought it up to speeeeeed. Of all the titles, none of the NFS ones have had legs like The Run has and it's been ignored the most.

    dear EA,

    bring back the online server for shift 2 And nfs The Run please. I love these games! You brought back the online Server for Skate 3. You can do it for these games too please.

    Or please release a Remastered Version of NFS the Run like you did with Hot Pursuit.
