lost progress NFS Rivals Xbox One
I have lost my progress in NFS Rivals for the third time. I've contacted EA customer support via chat three times. The first two times they took me through several steps and assured me that I wouldn't lose my progress again. Because of that assurance, I put about 14 hours of gameplay in. Of course that amount of time was broken up between a few sessions, each of which loaded just fine. Today I got on and nearly everything was gone. All I have now is an Aston Martin. My little break from school is now over so all that time I put into it was for nothing.
It was suggested that I contact Xbox people and activate cloud storage, but I will not pay monthly to store just this one game. If it were advertised that way, I wouldn't have purchased it.
Please explain to me what this issue is, or we need to look into a refund due to a faulty product.

P.s.s, This is the ONLY game I have that gives me this issue.
P.s.s.s, I just saw a thread where EA asked a customer to contact customer support regarding this. I want to make it clear here that it was customer support who directed me here and said they could no longer assist me.
