See, yesterday @MrB34rdy posted a link to an article writen on help.ea weeks ago that said this:

This was a real confirmation of multiplayer freeroam in the game.
Some minutes ago, I entered this same link, and realized that it had been edited!
Look at what it says now:

Conclusion: THERE IS NOT GOING TO BE MULTIPLAYER FREEROAM. EA promised it on that post and now realizing they have made a mistake, edited it as fast as they could.
DISSAPOINTED.
There is online freeroam, but in lobby mode, very short, just multiplayer mode is more long.
How is that mode? U can be in lobby mode with a friend?
For while this is "wait mode" lobby, but the world is free and so the next speedlist loads, I can to play with a friend but in speedlist, if the my friend and me stay out of the event also.
That is a loading screen and nothing more. It is not a proper multiplayer free roam, and should stop being claimed as one. You cannot host car meets, you cannot run into and meet new people, and if the host starts the race at any moment, you get thrown into a race whether you wanted to or not, as you may have been cruising around with others.
Payback is built on the same game engine as NFS 2015, removing multiplayer free roam took more effort than it would've if it was kept in the game. So there is NO excuse for it not being in the game, and the fact that the speedlist loading screen puts players into the world together for a brief moment, means there is NO reason it can't be the same drop in-drop out multiplayer free roam like in NFS 2015.
All that, is if you ignore the fact that it was a promised feature, that was only very recently removed from their official post, most likely after the majority of preorders had already come in.
Everyone should refund and boycott Payback UNLESS Ghost games addresses and fixes this. It's not difficult to patch back in, and they know it. Let's see if they listen to community feedback, like they claim.- Stop trying to boycott Payback.

I'd like to inform you that removing online free roam is detrimental to the game's life span, if you don't come out and officially address this problem many fans will leave the game, and for those who already bought it they'll eventually leave and play your competitor's games where they manage to provide what's missing in Payback.
You claim to listen to fans (doesn't seem like it considering how customization in NFS actually regressed overtime, just look at UG2 onward, and you'll see how customization kept devolving yet you still stand by the "authentic & real" body parts and such, when you know for a fact that we just want variety in everything instead of the opposite. Again look at UG2, you might learn a thing or two) but that's besides the main point I'm trying to address. We've been rightfully complaining about Payback's lack of online free roam mode for a fair while now, and the fact that this issue came up before the game is even officially released will undoubtedly affect the game's sales, and no matter how high your numbers go up. just know that those numbers won't be as high as they could potentially be thanks to the brilliant decision of excluding what is known to be a staple in the open world racing game genre by now.
Also what the hell is up with no cops in free roam, what's the point of having a cop system in the first place? Want tips on how to fix them? Easy! Take a look at 2005's NFS Most Wanted and you should learn something... New? I guess? It truly is sad that I'm referencing two NFS games that are well over 13 years old to improve the latest NFS game. NFS has definitely evolved in certain aspects, but in return severely regressed in others. Do yourselves a favor and hire some loyal NFS fans who are interested in a Game Design career to help you fix your games the right way.
You've taken a year off without a NFS game to eventually deliver a complete game, not a game which gives fans the right to complain about it before it's even officially released, and rightfully so on the fans' side. You need to address this issue to the public regarding whether you intend to include an online free roam mode or not (because clearly you deliberately kept that piece of info away from fans during your big marketing campaign); before the official release date, because that's what makes sense from a business perspective AND as an answer to loyal fans who don't deserve such a slap to the face. SAVE your GAME. DON'T LET IT DIE.

Yes these people are right about this we need free roam cops and nissan micra you are just about to lose a big fan of need for speed to the forza game they are willing to put the nissan micra on there new game
- I bought 3 copies two for my bros and one for me sadly they are digital. If they don’t fix this huge issue soon i won’t be touching another NFS game.. this is BS I’ve been playing since the underground days and this is by far the hugest disappointment to date i waited for this release was so hyped on it. The points you are making are right on point with how i too feel about this game.. without multiplayer free roam in place and the lack of customization and how we can’t even add certain elements to our cars such * Stretch tires, those were in 2015 no longer avail in payback, the game just feels like it’s lacking many customization options that i won’t list Here.. all i will say is I agree with u 110% it would even be nice if they would bring back Hot Pursuit style racing where players can be cops or racers they’ve had plenty of time to fine tune and enhance the game but instead to me and my brothers it feels like they’ve just degraded the title..I hope they add this multiplayer free roam in soon.. very soon it would be a damn shame to not take advantage of such a massive map.. and include activities too like drift competitions , car meets, drag racing, car shows, think outside the box Ghost! You guys are developers so give us the people who buy your games what we want...
If this doesn’t get better and we don’t see MP free roam ASAP me and my bros will be jumping over to forza horizon.. and for the love of gaming fix your MP servers please and do something about the Tiers these are not even close to similar performance levels and it’s either we wipe other racers or we’re out powered here’s hoping that Ghost pulls it together or a lot of us who spent money on this title will

hi there devs i am sure your gonna read all of this post until you do put in and this most topic that being brought up online free roam and i agree what this guys says and any person that wrote a post from up to down is it rlly that hard to unable what you put in game and then taken out i don't get you guys keep the stuff for future or trash can fills up to fast cuz y'all don't keep stuff don't be lazy put the online free roam make all this people happy i am sure everyone in EA wants extra money so why don't u add something that takes only couple of hours or week to make don't make to big of the deal put in no one is going to mad its completely different everyone is going live happily ever after just do it EA i play a lot of games cuz there is only good company and its EA so if mistake happen don't be afraid to fix it i love the game i rlly hope u guys put it in cuz like my friends rlly want to get in lobby and show our rides have fun i mean main fun of the game or is that just idk i hope to see you on stage with ur head up with out fake smile cuz i rlly love your games and respect you for time you give us to make this great game like NEED FOR SPEED PAYBACK .

The fact that the game does not have free roam is bad but: why can not have a room creator to choose the game mode and play speedlist what you want with whomever you want, (people with little ping for example) ?
Matchmaking leaves a lot to be desired, and this could give you a much more creative alternative.
With this they could also add in-game chat rooms between players. But again I repeat, EA is characterized by the low capacity of communication between their games between players.
I have my Origin account for years and although I consider myself a very social person, who likes to play with friends, I have never managed to make myself a friend in game in the games of EA, this is due to the little importance that they give to the socializing factor within the games .. For example: I love football and I love playing FIFA, but every time I enter the online is to have a bad time just because I do not know who I am playing against and I can not say "hello" at least through a chat.
In summary: EA games are the least to socialize and meet people to have a good time playing together. We want to play NFS Payback online free roam and be able to dialogue with the other players, this will make the game infinitely more fun and interesting.
- They just announced a patch under the hood, and i am like... What in the actual ****!? They spend 2 weeks to increase a few rep gains.. they made the game easier even now when most people already completed it LOL...
They talk nothing about multiplayer, or about what we really want with the car customizing experience so we arent stuck with a regera..

The Support from EA and Ghost Games on this Game is nearly 0%.
At the first Week my optimism was good, but now i think that EA and Ghost don't give a f*** about us players and the people who made this company big.

I want to refund it because I didn't pay for that. I payed for an opened world game/ free roaming gaming and I don't have it. I AM LOOKING TOWARDS THE REFUNDING OF THIS GAME IF CHANGES ARE NOT GOING TO BE MADE. IT IS REALLY, REALLY

- I totally agree. If we don’t get the free roam we had in the previous versions I won’t be purchasing another Need for Speed.
- Please keep up to date with the under the hoods' before posting just in case players lose interest in a growing product
So far we have multiplayer freeroam with dealerships, tune up shops, garages and gas stations.
With the latest addition being activities i.e speed traps, drift zones etc.. And two new cars
There will surely be multiplayer freeroam events in future updates, it's bound to go down that path considering the work they've done til now.
Peace out, happy gaming.Exactly Ghost said that they have to develop a whole new client or something for Payback because some people were complaining about free roam in NFS 2015 "Always Online fucntion" NFS 2015 was meant to be multiplayer and singleplayer all in one, so for Payback they didn't add it to the game 'cause of this. Now they added it back in step by step seperate so you can choose playing singleplayer OR multiplayer and as I see the free roam is growing up.

NFS 2015 nos proporcionava um amplo jogo em coop , nem mesmo era preciso entrar na corrida para poder fazer parte dela, bastava ir onde a corrida estava acontecendo.
Tomara que no próximo eles juntos o melhor dos dois jogos para que de fato tenhamos o melhor jogo de corridas arcade.Glad that I looked up this Need for Speed forum. I almost was ready to buy NFS Payback, but now I know that I won't be purchasing this NFS game. I've been waiting for years to come back to Need for Speed, waiting for a game similar to Need for Speed World. I loved that game. I was a beta player in that game from the very beginning of the betas. I loved playing NFS World especially the way it was when we came out of the beta tests. The last couple of years of it weren't too good because of some of the content they removed from the game. Some of the very things that I have found out are missing from NFS Payback.
So, I guess what I'm saying to you all at Electronic Arts and your developers you use, until you build a game with the things that are talked about in this forum , I won't be spending any of my moneyon your still lacking Need for Speed games.
Please make the games we ask for not what you think we want.

Yes I'm aware you made your original message back in November 2017.
However, the game is working in free roam in November 2018!
Many people complaing about a small potatoes in here!
Before ranting about something else in the game.
Just contact EA or Ghost Studios first and toss your concerns to them.
Just so you know they won't be able to appease everyone's in game desires.
