    @ThiaguinPS - @Jbrlycorn

What is your operating system exactly?

Can you turn off DEP and try again?  (DEP: Data Execution Prevention)

Data Execution Prevention is a feature in Windows that determines whether or not programs are safe to run.Though this feature might be helpful in some cases, sometimes Windows determines a program is not safe to run even if the program is completely harmless.

In that case, you can follow the instructions below to fix the issue:

    Windows 7 / Vista

    1. Right-click on your Desktop and click on Properties.
    2. You will see your System window now. Click on Advanced System Settings.
    3. You will see the System Properties window. Click on the Advanced tab.
    4. Under Performance, click on Settings (the top button).
    5. You will see a pop-up appear called Performance Options.
    6. Click on the Data Execution Prevention tab.
    7. Click on Turn on DEP for all programs and services except those I select.
    8. Click on the Add button.
    9. Browse to where you installed the game and select the .exe file.
    10. Restart your computer and try playing your game again.

    Windows XP

    1. Click on Start.
    2. Click on Control Panel.
    3. Double-click on System.
If you do not see the System icon, click on Switch to Category View.
    4. Click on the Advanced Tab.
    5. Under Performance, click on Settings.
    6. Click on the Data Execution Prevention tab.
    7. Click on Turn on DEP for all programs and services except those I select.
    8. Click on the Add button.
    9. Browse to where you installed the game and select the .exe file.
    10. Restart your computer and try playing your game again.

Instructions also availaible in the Microsoft Website: Change Data Execution Prevention settings

    @

That fix is no good buddy.

    We're using Windows 7  - 64 bit here.

It won't even allow you to change that option you said, it says NFS has to run using that DEP thing.

It's weird how suddenly there's lots of us about and all our Need for Speed Rivals have stopped working.

Looks like EA have made a boo boo somewhere.  Mine was fine the other week and I've only just recently bought Rivals.

Now I can't play it, talk about annoying?

Something is screwed up with the updates for it or something, I tried lots of things yesterday on my machine even a full 1 hour ram test in Memtest.  My ram is perfect, so is my hard drive.  All my Direct X, .NET framework is installed perfectly.

Whatever EA have done, can it be fixed please?

No that fix is no good, it says 'You Cannot Set DEP Attributes on 64-Bit executables.

I have done nothing on my computer to casue this problem and it happened on my friends computer too.

    My Computer is:

    i7 3820 CPU @ 3.60GHZ

    16Gb Ram at 1800MHZ

HD 7970 Radeon XFX  Core Clock 1050MHZ Memory Clock 1500MHZ

    Windows 7 Ultimate.

I had the same problem here (except for the specific error message).

NFS Rivals crashed a few seconds after initializing with the black window opened. It did not reach the full screen mode.

It was fine last time I checked (a few weeks ago).

The DEP can't be turned off for the 64bit or 32bit executable.

    I'm using :

Windows 8.1 64bit (up to date)

    NVIDIA latest drivers (344.75)

    Dual screen.

    Nothing overclocked.

I checked the game files with "Repair Game" to no avail.

I killed most of the background programs and unplugged every controller but the gamepad.

I tried to start the game right after a fresh reboot.

I tried both executables (administrator rights).

Last thing I tried fixed the problem and the game is now running flawlessly. Here's what I did:

Disable the Origin in-game overlay (IGO). To do this, launch the Origin client. Then go to the Origin menu, Application Settings, Origin In Game, and then uncheck "Enable Origin In Game."

I hope this fix works for you guys!

    Good luck!

    @PLamistad18

What is your Operating System plamistad18?

In the meantime try the following suggestion:

Most of the time missing Dll errors are related to Visual C++

Simply install (or reinstall) Microsoft Visual C++ by using the program in the game folder by default the application is located here:   C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\Need for Speed(TM) Rivals\__Installer\vc\vc2012Update1\redist

Note: your windows user account needs the administrator rights.

If the issue persists, try ruining both programs as suggested here.
