NFS Most wanted (2005)

Have EA killed the PC's online servers? I have patched the game to v1.3.

My computer is more than capable of handling the game graphically and otherwise. The message I get when trying to get online is as follows:

"Connection was lost to ISP, returning you to the main menu".

I can only assume it's either an issue why Virgin Media hub or EA have a shutdown/got a major server issue.

Any advice is appreciated. I really love this game and to be honest I'd love to go against people online (there are some of us that still play your older games EA). 

p.s. If I have to link my EA account to my Origin account could someone leave me instructions on how to do it thanks.
