Thing is, back than I did buy some speedboost to buy things.
There was one time 50,000 SB was for like 6 AUD, but I didn't have payment method at the time so I didn't get any.
And when I got my prepaid phone, I used the credit to buy speedboost each month (I think I got the MR2 as a gift?) till I finally got an aventador and then mclaren F1 maybe less than 1 year till the servers would be shutdown?
Ouch.
R.I.P. real money.

TThe other big problem was just how the collision physics worked. Often you'd get rammed to **** and be unable to catch up, because for some reason, it mostly works in there flavour.
It depends on how much pressure you're being pushed upon colliding.
Someone going at high speed with the intention of ramming will push you so much while someone going at high speed with no intention of ramming will only push you slightly (with minor taps to your cars by accident).
Collisions are intensified when someone has Juggernaut powerup active.
A player with Juggernaut active will always win a ram fight against a player with no Juggernaut active.
Unpopular opinion, but I found ramming in NFS World really fun back in the day. lol
Once the game became pay2win with the Lamborghini Murcielago LP640 in March 2011, I couldn't take the game seriously anymore and started ramming in Multiplayer races. XD
I couldn't compete against people with pay2win cars when driving my In-Game Cash cars (and this worsened in later years), so I created my own kind of fun. 😉
The collisions in The Crew 1 are a lot worse than NFS World.
It's pretty much the same as NFS World's, but there is a chance of spinning out someone upon rear-ending an opponent in The Crew 1.

My almost maxed Aventador a short while before they closed the servers (Also had an F1 at 840)
Nice cars.
R.I.P. Aventador and F1.

So yeah, it was a bit P2W, but what free to play game isn't?
"A bit pay2win" is an understatement. lol
Fortnite is a free-to-play game that's not pay2win and it's doing really well cobsidering how popular it is and the amount of people playing it.

PS: Was it only mid 2015? Gosh it felt like forever ago...
Yea, time is slipping away... 😮

Point is, there was still a good mix of cars that were competitive and not super expensive.
That doesn't excuse the fact that people with McLaren F1 Elite Edition, Pagani Zonda Cinque, and Koenigsegg Agera will win majority of the races.
Taking different skill levels out of the equation (meaning same skill levels), let's take two players. One is driving a Porsche 911 GT3 RS and the other is driving a McLaren F1 Elite Edition.
The player driving the McLaren F1 Elite Edition will win the races, simply because their car is better than their opponent's in every way possible.
Add to the fact that the McLaren F1 Elite Edition remained as the ultimate pay2win car until 1 month before game's shut down.

Also, you know the worst part of NFS World Online as a Leader and operator of my large crew in that game was I spent $4000 real cash to keep my crew in top p2w Cars.
The F1 and Zonda Cinque are both S-class in World. They cost $60.00. Each to buy. That was without the max parts too make the car top end.
Spending crazy amounts of cash on monthly or Holiday speed boost car packages ran my bill up fast.
Thankfully it got all paid off over to time on my Credit Card...LoL 😂
Have a great day.
I remember you said you spent $4000 real money in NFS World back then.
Which blows my mind. lol
Ouch.
R.I.P. real money.
For your sake, I hope you avoid NFS No Limits as that game is even more pay2win than NFS World. The grind in that game is insane!

Some of the best servers are NR -Night Ryderz sever.
For the worst server in Soapbox everyone should avoid the toxic "World Online PL" Server in Soapbox Race World game.
To be fair, all NFS World Private servers are dead. None of them have had 500 players playing concurrently.
I have heard stories about World Online PL server, although it is the server that has the most players playing.
I have an account in World Online PL server, but I didn't play for two months. The game is just boring as heck.
I made a couple of friends in World Online PL server, but left them all behind. They are probably still playing right now! lol XD
Also Apex server and WOPL server are merging together, and that means all progress (cars and achievements) in Apex and WOPL will be wiped and lost.
Which deters me from continuing playing in these servers.
TBH, I did suck a bit with driving...
Even with those cars, I didn't win that much...
But it was mostly 'free' money - credit that would otherwise be gone at the end of a month
as for fortnight, that's basically all skill...
anyway, I feel like this had been derailed enough as it is...
