Purple colored conversion kits

What are purple coloured conversion kits used for. I am in level 76 and haven't used these parts even once. It's just eating my garage storage space.

Purple => Yellow (Legendary)

    the purple (epic) conversion kits are used when upgrading an epic part up to legendary, the same way blue (rare) conversion kits are used to upgrade rare parts to epic
