Re: AntiAliasing

@MASK9518 Finally someone else who complains about it. This game has horrible aliasing. Only options provided are a resscaler and TAA. And still with both aliasing is present. The stupid sharpening filter is forced which makes it even worse. Just like the chromatic abberation and filmgrain. Never force stupid postfx like these on the player especially on a PC game. Not only is this bad for PC also on consoles, because most console players I assume play on a TV with sharpening on. If we PC players want these effects we will most likely use reshade for this which does a better job at it. Maybe improve the TAA and/or give more true AA options like MSAA. FXAA in this game is completely useless especially with the forced sharpening filter.

  • FXAA worked and looked fine in NFS2015 and Payback (less effective in the latter)

but it's a bit less effective again here to the point it's barely doing anything

TAA still makes things super soft and fuzzy and not to mention TAA being intensive relative to none or FXAA and causing artifacts (It's really a frostbite problem, I think)

Worse part about forced sharpening is that monitors with sharpening built in will over-exaggerate things

Payback TAA had artifacts as well as 'oversharpening'

I know because I compared on my laptop (TAA on gives artifacts with both things in motion and makes the decals/vinyls show compression artifacts a lot clearer) which doesn't have sharpening on the display

on my desktop with FXAA or no AA, I could see those same compression artifacts that I could with TAA on my laptop because my monitor already sharpens the image for me

In 2015 you could turn off film grain by editing the settings file (not that I did that, because with it off it looks worse with the meh shaders and such)

@speedracer523 Yeah I don't really mind the filmgrain that much either but I rather have it off. We need to see options ingame to turn off the chromatic abberation, sharpening and filmgrain. I don't mind TAA being in the game but this TAA implementation is one of the worst I have ever seen in a game. The devs should improve the TAA and/or give us better AA options than the game is offering right now. If this is all done the games graphics will look miles better. And these days we already have good external image sharpening filters like the one from nvidia and amd.
