I think I found another solution...

This worked for me and should hopefully work for you:

1. Uninstall the game and reinstall it from the PS Store. A patch should download at the same time but immediately delete it.
 This should be in 'Downloads' in the Notifications.

2. After the game has Installed the 3-4 GB. Make sure u turn off ur wi-fi or remove ur ethernet cable, and make sure u are not connected to any internet connection before entering the game.

3. Start up NFS Rivals, then finish the tutorial for both cops and racer. NOTE: If its says 'An update file is dowloading. Do You want to start the application WITHOUT updating it ?' Say 'Yes'. Then make check ur notifications and if the update starts downloading again, DELETE IT.

4. After finishing the tutorial for both cop and racer, it should say 'Installing Game' open ur wi-fi or  insert ur ethernet cable and make sure ur connected to the internet.

5. The update should start downloading again but DELETE IT. After you finish the install, the update should start downloading again but DO NOT DELETE IT. after the patch installs, the game should start driving again.

This worked for me and should hopefully work for you. make sure you follow my instructions carefully.

NO NEED TO DELETE or REDOWNLOAD.

FOLLOW THIS IT WILL WORK IT WORKED FOR ME

If you have started the game after the initial download (3gb) , let it download the complete game (17gb) it will work after that.

No need to delete any update or redownload, still if its not working delete the save file and start again after complete game gets downloaded (17gb).

THIS IS WHAT I DID.

1. Downloaded the initial File (3gb) + Update.

2. Started the game " acceleration not working"

3. Waited till it downloaded the complete game (17gb).

4. Deleted my Save File. (if it doesnt work delete the save file)

5. Started the game "acceleration working"

I am trying this right now. Ill let you know if it works for me too.

So I deleted game, reinstalled it and stopped the update download (had to stop it twice, once with the first game download, then again when i loaded up the game. I was then able to complete the training.

The update download (smaller file size) is the culprit here.

Once you finish the tutorial you'll see a NFS logo screen that says installing. I am waiting for this and expect the game to work fine once the full install is done.
