Re: Last Two Good NFS GAMES?

Shift 1 and 2 are more realistic for road track racing than Pro Street, but there isn't much customization. Carbon has more customization options than Most Wanted (2005), Undercover has the fastest pace, fast enough that it's difficult to drive the fastest cars, combined with having nitrous magically increasing downforce, so nitrous is mostly used for faster corner speed and when going over bumps, but Undercover doesn't have a lot of customization. Underground 1 and 2 have a lot of customization, and for Underground 2, visual upgrades to at least one of the career cars to make it a 10 star car is needed to complete career.

I can't find tunes for drag racing, drift or the circuits for Shift 2. Speed hunters is good but I can't run better than 10.8s with the Challenger RT

I don't recall doing much with the tuning. For the circuit events, the Lambo LP640 is fastest, but that's a DLC car, and if you don't already have a save with that car, you can't get it right now because Origin server is not sending unlock messages to the game to unlock it. The Apollo is probably the next best car. However, on high speed tracks, both of these cars have a downforce issue that pushes the car body into the pavement and lifts the rear tires, resulting in snap oversteer. It is a bug in the game that was never fixed. This is one of the reasons I prefer Shift 1, although it has a bouncing bug on the banked oval tracks.

I made a video with the Speed Hunters Challenger, 10.145 (link is below). The Speed Hunters Viper is faster, but the AI will be faster as well, but you don't have to win and set the 10.50 time milestone in the same set of runs. If you have it, the Lambo LP640 is fastest and also easy to drive in drag mode, and can run under 8.5 seconds.

I'm using an analog controller, actually two joysticks that appear to be a single device to games, left stick is throttle + brake, right stick is steer, similar to the old style radio control transmitters for cars (also for model planes). Shift 1 is better when using an analog controller, but Shift 2 seems designed for digital gamepads. I had to borrow a digital gamepad to get through some of the Shift 2 drift events, as some of them are virtually impossible with an analog controller.

I've ran the lambo. Tire shake and subsequent wheelspin sends you into the wall.

Which is why tuning is important. Pro Street has tunes. I'm not sure why Shift 2 doesnt.

You didn't mention what type of controller you are using.

For some of the cars I tried, including the Challenger, I have to launch at partial throttle, then stay at partial throttle, gradually increasing the throttle as I shift gears. However, with the Lamborghini LP640, I can go to full throttle as soon as I shift into 2nd gear. I made a video of an 8.128 run (link below). Maybe you can explain what is happening on your system and what is different.

If you're using a digital gamepad, you may want to switch the throttle to a button and then tap the button in a pattern to get partial throttle. I only borrowed a gamepad for Shift 2 drift mode, so I don't know how a gamepad is supposed to work for drag mode. In drift mode, if a player uses a gamepad, Shift 2 will do part of the steering and throttle for the player, but I don't know about drag mode.

Drag Racing is about power, grip and full throttle. Hence why tunes are important car to car and from track to track generally. Greg Anderson and Chris Rado always have their cars tuned. I'm hoping someone makes tunes for nfs shift 2. There's no reason why pro street has drag tunes but searches don't bring anything for Shift 2 Drag racing.

I'm currently using the controller that came with my Xbox 360 slim.  Also waiting on my other posts/threads to be replied to. Idk why there's such little activity on NFS no ,limits and the other NFS forum threads. Payback and nfs 2015 aren't owned by everyone. There's some that can't afford a 500 dollar console.

Most of the cars I didn't tune. For the LP640, I set downforce to max, 24 / 24, I don't know if I made any other changes. I'm on the PC version, so I don't know how the console version is. To be honest, I prefer Shift 1 because it was better for analog controllers like joystick. Also Shift 2 has no online chat feature, even when in a lobby waiting for a race, so the experience is not much different than playing in offline mode as there's no way to communicate with other players, unless you use a third party voice based communication system like VOIP, which in turn depends on what percentage of other online players are using it. Shift 2 was never that popular for online racing, probably because of these issues. Shift 1 was popular for online when it was new, but virtually no one plays it online anymore.

I don't know if your controller is analog or digital. Some gamepad like controllers have joysticks, but they are not fully analog, with only a few discreet positions for the joysticks, maybe just 5 different positions (like -2/2, -1/2, 0/2, +1/2, +2/2) which wouldn't work very well with most racing games.

My 886 Horsepower/889 ft lb torque/1798 pound Drag AE86. Though I just can't run better than 11.1s with it. First 2 to 3 gears go up too fast for the low speed. I either spin out and pull a 180 after hitting the wall or the gears pull so much I'm at the shift points before half track until 4th.

I've also said I have carbon, NFS UNDERCOVER,  pro street , shift 2 and 2012s most wanted.  Though Pro Street is my fave for drag racing.  Still trying to find people to play with for blueprints on pro street and achievements in all the games.

I know I can't play or get in Xbox one parties on my 360, but can you do pc to 360 for online races?

Of the list of games you mentioned, Shift 2 never had many online players, and most players didn't bother doing tunes for Shift 2 for any mode, as most of the career milestones can be beaten using untuned cars, if you choose the right car. The only milestone that may not be possible is a 4 second drift at Ebisu's tight drift track. I haven't found any youtube videos showing a 4 second drift there.

Carbon's tuning is pretty much the same for every car (always max power, max rpm) except suspension setting for understeer / oversteer, and tuning transmission for top speed for the Z06, and perhaps drift tires for the Viper in drift mode. For Pro Street, many of the drag tunes are unusual. The fastest drag car in the game is a stage 4 Camaro SS, launched in 5th gear (by assigning a button to 5th gear) with the throttle floored, and with only one shift. Similar gear skipping tunes were done for other cars, like only using 2nd, 4th, and 5th for the Supra (need buttons assigned to 2nd and 4th gear).  Undercover's tuning was similar for each car, most of the difference being the settings for drivetrain and engine.

I'm not aware of any NFS games where console players can go online with PC players.
