Re: Music choices

@mGunner87 Thats the problem with todays kids, they are only interested in top 40s pop or rap mayby dubstep. I agree with you i grew up with old school techno and hardrock\metal, personally i really miss when EA made their own music. Instead of this licenced crap, except from that MW 05 Undercover 08 had pretty good soundtrack.

    @BVBgamer88

    Hello Brother

I see were talking about music and that's always been a favorite topic of mine.

1978 got Ace Frehley solo Kiss Vinyl album and Cheap Tricks In color Album for Christmas that year.

I was only seven years old that year and became a huge fan of rock music quickly.

OK, back on topic -  I'm not a fan of that licensed music crap either in those older games.

I was not a fan of )% music set either minus a few songs the rest I couldn't get into on that game.

Now NFS Carbon soundtrack I really liked with that techno beats sound it made the game fun.

These days I just shut off all music in the game open up my MusicBee Music player and

play my premade list of driving metal and mix sets of music.

I find the songs now I like instead of being concerned about a soundtrack on the game.

This new stuff on these games for songs sounds like a garbage can at best.

So old school 70's 80's and 90's and early 2000's work for me.

I do also listen to 50's and '60s when feeling mellow.

That's what an older guy like me dose for gaming music.

    Have a good one Brother.

  • @BLVD69 BB stop full MFG OST since HP2.(A Distinctive tradition)Criterion did too much MFG OST for Burnout so there's nothing left for NFS.Ghost OST is a pure disaster not outstanding in anyway.I quite prefer Classic music/Jazz/Rock (but only music before 2000s) for racing games because of Burnout.Sadly current racing games always chase the trend and bring lots of tasteless choices without anything memorable
  • @GK3512

You Stated: Sadly current racing games always chase the trend and bring lots of tasteless choices without anything memorable

My Reply: I couldn't agree more @GK3512  and let's keep in mind the music industry has went belly up since the creation of Downloadable music online.

So what do we get for music these days?

We get Air fluff sounds and soundtracks just are empty beats and tasteless harmonies.

    Have a good one.

As you can see from my avatar. 😛

I agree that both NFS Most Wanted 2005 and NFS Undercover had awesome soundtracks.

In NFS Undercover's case, that was one of the only few good things about the game.

@TheRealJony Haha yeah thats what i mean, no fence though. But i see this a lot here in my country Norway, most of the radion channels we have etc NRJ or P5 P4 and Radio Norway. They are all playing the same top 40s or music from tha last ten decades, a guy like me prefer rock\metal mayby old school teckno\electric if im in mode. Anyway i enjoyed most when EA made their own music, before they went mainstream.
  • @BLVD69 Hello back BVLD69, I dont think we are sharing the same taste, except from the genre since im more into modern metal\rock. Etc Dead by April(awsome metal band from Sweden)Bullet for my Valentine a walish metalband ,Avenged Sevenfold Skillet and also Starset( a band i discovered in FH4). This is just some of the music i listen too on spotify, but all respect for your music taste too mate🙂.

None taken. While I may not agree with your opinion, I respect your opinion about Top 40 pop.

If there's a case when your opinion is Taylor Swift sucks, then I would say my opinion is your opinion sucks. And so on. XD

But yea. I respect your opinion.

This is similar case with my dad.

Whenever he heards the top 40 pops and such, he will change the radio station in an instant. He is sick of hearing the same overplayed songs over and over again, unlike me when I still enjoy listening to them. 😃

I was surprised to find some NFS games had some songs from the radio in the past.

Such in the cases of three NFS games.

NFS Most Wanted 2012 had Icona Pop's I Love It.

    NFS Rivals had Bastille's Pompeii.

NFS Heat had French Montana's Writing On The Wall (Featuring Post Malone and Cardi B)

Since I listen to the top 40 contemporary radio, hearing these songs in these games blew my mind off (when I wasn't expecting any radio music to be in NFS games). lol

My one wish is a NFS game to have at least one song from Taylor Swift in the game's official soundtracks. lmao XD

But I know that it's never gonna happen. 100% guaranteed. 😃

@TheRealJonyHaha no i was not thinking of Taylor Swift, but more Astrid S if you have heard of her a norwegian popstar, and also Julie Bergan Kygo etc Alan walker is also norwegian and very popular her in my country. Not to mention Ava Max is playing very often, anyway my point is getting tiring hearing all those songs repeat every day when im on work haha. Since most of my coleagues love pop music, and yes most of them are girls.

So yeah  i feel your dads pain, since most of the music todays girly girly pop. When i was a teenager it was way more varied, everhything from pop to metal\rock. We even had nightmix decaded too oldschool teckno\house, my problem is that femenism has taken over the radios. The result is just the same artists with new songs thats it, anyway i dont get offended that you compared me with your dad. Even though im on 32 years old, buy the way i dont mind all pop as long as it is Coldplay or Avici even though he had only one good song. Thirty Seconds too mars is also decent, and LInkin Park was good before Chester left us way too early. Only thing i ask is that radio stations can play more rock, like back in the early 2000s. And yes i dont like Taylor Swift not because of the music, but because she is political correct. Wich most of the hollywood stars is, you mentioned Bastille he is pretty good actually.

I never heard of any of these music artists, except Ava Max. lol

I only heard Ava Max when her viral hit song "Sweet But Psycho" started playing over the radio back in 2018. After it died down, she "disappeared" from the radio. I never heard her over the radio for the whole of 2019 and this year.

Initially, I thought Ava Max was brunette. I don't know why, but I always thought she was brunette. Then I learned she is blonde and that surprised me a bit. XD

I listen to a lot of American, Canadian, and European music artists such as Taylor Swift, Ariana Grande, Selena Gomez, Carly Rae Jepsen, and Ellie Goulding.

One music artist I listen to that doesn't have the same status as the above yet is Dua Lipa. That girl can sing IMO! lol

Luckily for me, my workplace has the radio on throughout the day that plays the top 40 contemporary songs so I get to listen to songs I like all day. 😃

Unfortunate for both you and my dad. My dad also has to deal with the radio playing the top 40 songs as well. lmao

Before the radio station I listen to (for over 10 years now) exclusively plays popular pop and rap songs, they used to play rock songs alongside pop and rap songs 11 years ago.

You probably never heard of them, but have you heard of Nickelback?

They are a Canadian Rock band and I loved hearing their songs over the radio 11 years ago.

I'll link some of their songs I heard 11 years ago. I still remember them clear as day.

    Links: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DmeUuoxyt_E

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q0VRj2uw9L0

It is a shame that the radio station I listen to pulled these classics out. The last time I heard these Rock songs over the radio was in the same year 11 years ago.

I like listening to Coldplay, especially their hit song "Viva La Vida".

I'm gonna take a guess on Avicii's only one good song. Was it "Levels"?

Avicii had another hit song "Wake Me Up", but I didn't think it was on the same calibre as "Levels".

    BVBgamer88 wrote:

I'm actually "Meh" about 30 Seconds To Mars. I don't hate them, but I also don't like them either.

They're just "Meh" to me. lol

I still remember what happened. Poor guy.

We will never know what he was going through, especially when he was all laughs and smiles when he was with his family for the last time.

I also listened to Linkin Park back in the day as well.

One of my friends who was a big Linkin Park fan was heartbroken about the events that happened.

    BVBgamer88 wrote:

Even though I prefer pop over rock, I would also like that radio stations (like the one I've been listening to) to play rock songs. Or even bring back the songs I linked above to play over the radio.

I can listen to the linked songs above by myself, but it doesn't feel the same as listening to them over the radio. You know what I mean?

While I don't like that she is trying to be "politically correct" and just leaving that to the politicians, I don't let that get in the way of liking her music.

Even if some of her actions are questionable, I will always be a Swiftie because I love her music. :D

    BVBgamer88 wrote:

I haven't heard of Bastille a whole lot recently.

His last song I heard (which was a hit song of course) was a collaboration with Marshmello's Happier back in 2018. The radio station I listen to sometimes plays this song today.

@TheRealJony Haha i have too agree with you man, i allways thought Ava Max was a brunette. Most female artist you can hear it easly, etc those we have in Norway AStrid S and Sigrid. Search them up on youtube or spotify mayby you will like their music🙂, im a big fan of Ariana Grande mostly because i thinks she is hot🙂, buy the way i actually like Nickleback. Great band very underated, im also a fan of Green Day. Cool that we both are milleniums buy the way:P. When it comes too Avici i ment the nights, that song was in Fifa 15 i think very underated song, atleast if you ask mainstream medias haha. I know what you mean it isent the same quality these days, i dont know how US radiostations works, but you guys still use FM net. We are on DAB here in norway, we ditched our FM for that. Haha yeah live #0 seconds too Mars is *. I saw them live in 2011 on a norwegian muscifestival called Hove, both them and LInkin Park was there. Chester bennington loved Norway buy the way, ironcly and sad that was his last visit ever in Norway. Before he left this world to put it nicely, it was fun talking music with you. Even though we dont agree with evrything, atleast we both are old NFS fans hehe

Btw, you know what happened to Avicii in 2018? ☹️

    BVBgamer88 wrote:

Putting aside the 80s and 90s music (as I know these musics from these times can't be compared to the music now), the "Golden Age" of music for me was from 2009 to 2012 (although the early 2000s also make the cut, but I didn't start listening to music until 2009).

My regret was not listening to music earlier in the early 2000s. I missed out on hearing music artists over the radio like Nelly Furtado in the early 2000s with her hit songs "Like A Bird", "All Good Things Come To An End", and "Do It".

Btw, the last time I heard Nelly Furtado over the radio was her song "Big Hoops (Bigger The Better)" in 2012 that flopped hard. Since then, I never hear her songs over the radio anymore.

After 2012 ended, I started to notice a decline of quality of music over the radio. The music in 2013 was fine, music in 2014 was worse, music in 2015 was ok at best.

Since 2016, I had been hearing a lot of new music artists coming out with their debut hits and such. But none of them had that "charm" the music in earlier years had IMO.

The only thing that's keeping me going on listening to radio music was the music artists I mentioned before, especially Taylor Swift. 😃

I had only been to three music concerts so far. Two times in 2018 and one time in 2019.

I don't know if you heard of this music artist, but have you heard of Lights? She is a Canadian music artist. Been listening to her music since I started listening to music in 2009.

I attended her music concert in 2018 and even got a selfie of myself with her. :D

I'll link three of my favourite songs from her. She's one of the biggest reasons why I listen to music, alongside Taylor Swift of course. XD

I saw your posts (GK3512 and BLVD69 posts as well) about cannonball NFS and trashing Black Box NFS games.

Some of the NFS games made by Black Box were my favourite NFS games, such as NFS Underground 1, 2, Most Wanted 2005, and Carbon.

While I did play two cannonball NFS (NFS 3: Hot Pursuit 1 and NFS Hot Pursuit 2 PC) 8 months ago, it was Black Box NFS games I mentioned that got me into NFS.

Without Black Box NFS games, I wouldn't be here right now. lol

When the three of you were trashing Black Box NFS games, I got a little bit triggered honestly because these games are fricken awesome.

But all three of you were just expressing your opinions about Black Box NFS games and why they sucked, so I didn't say anything back. 😃

I don't agree with all the hate for Black Box NFS games, but I respect your opinions about these games.

I miss Black Box developing NFS games so much. I loved their grip style driving physics and now we are stuck with drift style driving physics.

When the news came that EA was shutting down Black Box, I was upset that EA was throwing away the devs that made these awesome NFS games and my childhood games. ☹️

I don't miss Ghost Games though.

When the news came that EA was restructuring them into a support studio, I was meh. lmao 😃

@TheRealJony Blackbox is the dev changed(kinda ruined IMO) NFS in 2003.They originally wanted to please both side(which is hard)At first in 2002 they did the so-called better HP2 PS2.Then they decided to chase the trend of Ricer/Chav and made UG1 in 2003.Everything afterwards are ruined by the plan changed by EA.BB originally decided to make Cannonball and FF NFS in a cycle. So both style will take turns to be new NFS.This plan was changed after how GD successful UG1 in 2003.EA scraped the plan of Tuner(Chav) and Cannonball(Supercar) take turns and FORCED them to make another UG style game.So we got UG2(Riders on the Storm was a perfect song, but not in UG2 mix version, since that song was the inspiration of classic road-horror movie The Hitcher 1986)Then the originally planned HP3(set to be NFS2004) was pushed back to 2005 and became MW2005(they mixed UG chav story with pursuit gameplay so they wouldnt call it HP3 or anything HP related)Then after the 16 million success of MW2005 they wanted to do UG3,sadly that game was rushed and changed into Carbon(a direct plothole continuation of MW2005)So both UG3/HP3 are changed into different projects.
Prostreet and Undercover are done by the same team at the same time while being rushed,so both game failed badly.Sadly that cant be said to The Run(Fxxking BB called it CANNONBALL RUN in a BTS interview)Undercover was originally called The Chase and set to be a continuation of Carbon/MW05 story but also rushed to a wreck. The Run was BB's take on The Cannonball Run trilogy/Gumball Rally/Cannonball 1976 movies.Sadly even with 3 years in development(UC was 2008 and TR was 2011) the FB engine just sucked as a racing game engine. So that game also failed. With 3 continous(4 if we count Carbon) failures BB was officially shut down in 2013(but they were allowed to continue support NFS World as Quicklime Games)Then the end of BB as a whole was when Ghost put out NFS2015(Fxxking Reboot showed no respect to series history) which made NFS World being shut down and Quicklime also being shut down at the same time.
  • @GK3512

Yes agreed in 2003 Black Box messed up and the series did have that HP2 PS2 game and it was fun and I own that game still.

When the whole ricer idea rolled in UG1 it was a bit of stretch for me but I went along with the rest of our community and bought the game.

At first, I thought it was kinda fun but then I realized a "vortex of change".

This franchise took a turn but what kind I had no real clue at that time in that point of history.

Well by 2005 When MW PS2 came out it was a huge hit and it a fun game and ricercars was all over that game too.

Then we got Carbon PS2 and I did enjoy it for what it was but man it was a short storyline & more of the same themes from 2005 in 2006.

Once the storyline was all done in Carbon it became a Ghost City with nothing to do but drive around.

Now touching on a few critical point I want to add as to why this franchise is not moving in the right direction for the future.

I looked at all the studios that EA has it's hands-on and just looking at the historical record I believe we can conclude it all turns to sour grapes!

    https://heavy.com/games/2017/10/studios-ea-has-killed-visceral-games/

Here is a list of all current game studios EA has in their clutches to turn profits for them 2020.

    https://www.ea.com/ea-studios

Then I clicked on Criterion Studios and look at that they have NFS Heat showcasing.

I got this page when I clicked on racing games.

    https://criteriongames.com/games/need-for-speed-heat/

Now follow the money of EA here because really all this comes down to fiscal dollars and regaurdless

the studio's EA should be held accountable for the breakdown of this NFS Franchise.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electronic_Arts

Consider all this info as to why NFS has really failed to deliver over the Years since EA failed to deliver a budget that works for the Devs to build a high-end game!

So I implore the community to do their homework and not be followers of any EA game unless it meets community high-end standards day one of release!

Brother all your points are right but EA is the bottom line cause of this franchise taking the wrong direction & why some of their studios have failed over the years.

I did XP you because I agree but felt the need to add some more info here to discuss.

Feel free my friend to comment back on the info I posted.

I'd like to read your feedback as I do enjoy your commentary in these threads.

I know you understand like I do the value of good communication and facts and not fluff.

Take care always and have a great day Brother.

**Reminder for Community to credit for Solutions & XP for helpful liked comments**

  • @BLVD69 I agree with most of what you say man, expecially that young kids must stop buy any games from EA. They are part of the problem why EA wount learn from their mistakes, EA must learn that most of us want quality rather then quantity, then there might be a hope for a cannonball game again. My point is we as a community must boicott EA buy not buying any of of their games, mayby then we will see a change.
  • @BLVD69 No,I highly doubt it's because of budget.NFS failed like every EA series and dev in the past. The iconic EA action of Buy Rush Kill cycle ruined too many things.Take the so-called legendary MW2005 for example-that game was launched in 2005 but started in 2003 right after UG1 was launched. So BB was rushed in a heartbeat after UG1 turned out to be successful.EA continued to rush them in following NFS so we got 3 junks Prostreet/Undercover/TheRun in the end.Ironically BB became the dev of most successful NFS-MW2005 and least sucecssful NFS-TheRun both thanks to rushed schedule.Criterion(real) on the other hand was insisting on a HP style game which made EA mad and led to harder force on them than BB which led to MW2 project rushed into Burnout6(still fun) and Criterion fell apart with Alex and Fiona led core devs start new team called Three Fields.EA Canada/Distinctive was dropped because EA want to chase FF trend and got refused by them(HP2 was not a EA Canada project because PU2000 failed)Slightly Mad was forced to leave EA after confilct on game style and rushed timeline.Ghost is just a BB wannabe and failed just like BB itself.Every dev with NFS experience are either dead like EA Canada(EA Sport team isnt Distinctive 2.0) left EA like Slightly Mad(currently under Codemaster/formerly under Bandai Namco)shut down by EA like Blackbox(later Quicklime for NFS World only)or become a name-only dev like Criterion(Fake Criterion is just Ghost 2.0 without Criterion essence)So even we just consider NFS devs we can see EA's iconic move caused too many team and fan-favorite games totally dead.Which is the biggest reason I hate EA(They ruined Burnout/Medal of Honor/Crysys/NFS and countless other IP along with their dev team)
  • @GK3512Agree man the biggest reason why i hate EA, is because they dont care about their oldest fans like me you and BLVD69 etc. But yeah biggest mistake EA made was firing EA Canada, after that they started rushing games. So i cant say im positive about NFS future, i think the series is dommed too die.
