Re: Need for Speed 2016 Directx error and low fps and stutter issues.

@master2g

If your game is crashing only when you overclock then you should try a more gentle and incremental approach to your overclocking procedure, or set up a stock clock profile even if it just so this game works correctly. Your rig is pretty decent so the game should can run nicely at stock clocks.

  • Thanks bud , i did just that i bumped the OC down to 50 mhz on the gpu and 300 on the memory and it seems to like it there with out a fuss. So that's one off the list to fix 🙂

    I still cant get the fps drop to stop ( poet didn't know it ) . The major spot every time for me is like i said drive around the legends wheel race area by the cop station and gas station and the game just dies . Well it doesn't die , maybe that harsh but it still stutters and drops fps enough to annoy a guy a lot. 80 % of the time its running 60 fps pegged and runs like smooth silky waxed butter ( i have no idea what the "hal" that is ) but when im running around that area or some others its just struggles like crazy. It will drop to 45 fps or so no matter the settings and stutter bad.  Any aw inspiring wisdom to shed on that problem my friend because it has me stumped and it does get annoying so i would like to get some kind of fix  , if at all possible.

    P.S- thanks for the reply , im sure the forums here plus keep you really busy .

    You are welcome.

    Running a GPU monitoring app can be very informative. This will allow you to check CPU/GPU usage, temperatures, FPS max/min/average etc. and may help you focus your tweaking. Not awe inspiring but at least you can get some hard data to work with. 🙂

    Oh, and there is a new nvidia driver set available so check that out too.

  • I have had worse advice bud , lol . Some of which i cant repeat on a public board .So your advice being good is inspiring on some level right lol  😛

    So here is 2 shots of max readings via GPU-Z when i m driving around Legends Wheel race area.. The one by the Police station and fuel station location as i said before. It constantly  drops to 45 fps minimum and it hovers around 48 50 fps just doing circles at that intersection.  Drive a bit further and again all is good and fps shoots back to a solid 60fps . My i7 4770k shows high peaks ( other shot from task manager) but there is certainly head room. GPU usage when in that spot in game  as you can see is 98% . I monitor it all via MSI on my Logitech G510 key board lcd screen in real time. GPU-Z shows that its using the card but the game struggles to hold 50fps always in that area and a few others. Plus again stuttering. I haven't tried the new driver 378.92 as i just dont think its driver related. I have tried 3 different drivers with the same results. I mean yea , it is a very small possibility the new driver could fix it but 3 other drivers didn't so who knows right. Its just odd that NFS is the only game that doesn't play well with this card. Kind in mind when i was using my gtx 780 ti it did drop but the stutter was never there as much as it is now. As i squint and look upward deep in thought puffing on my bubble pipe i just cant make sense of it. What is making it drop so bad at those certain i game areas ?

     cpu usage at that spot in game.

    Hitting a min of 45FPS at 2560×1600 is not so bad, I don't think anything is wrong or broken with your setup or the game. I suggest playing around with the in-game graphics quality setting to find what raises your min framerate the most while not impacting visual quality too much. There are tons of performance related articles/videos online and personally I enjoy nerding out on DigitalFoundry and the like.

  • No way man, 😃 we will have to agree to disagree on that one.

    Having the game run at 45fps in areas  with a gtx 1080 is like having a 500hp Ferrari that only does 20mph max going down hill.

    Every other game maxed ( all 46 of them ) are 60 fps pegged at the same resolution and some with all dues respect like Crysis 3 is way more demanding in all categories.

    I have seen videos on YouTube showing the same issues im having. One person on the PS4 had the game running slow and stutter the same way my does in those areas. (Link below). Other as well but some turned off Origin in game and deleted the config file and it fixed them right up.Me not so much, but then again i couldn't win a free bag of chips if my life depended on it so....bad luck to left of me , bad luck to the right of me.

    I will definitely research the problem on those sites you mentioned and see if i cant crack this " insoluble recondite complication ".

    Yes, yes i did go to college, thank you for noticing   🤓      Till then I will keep you posted man thanks . ttyl

  • Well got to the clean boot process and that didn't change a thing.☹️

    I took a screen shot of all processes left running in clean boot when i tried the game again.

    Nothing but windows main system processes running and it still stutters and runs low frames in the same areas.At this point I am thinking It has to be the game . I maybe didn't notice it as much with the gtx 780 ti because i couldn't get to 50 in those areas anyways but with the gtx 1080 boy does it show up now.  Not hating on you my friend in anyway on this. Its EA that has my " not impressed gaze" lock on them. I know others have had the issue and i have seen the consoles in a few case suffer from it as well. Like i say im out of ideas at this point. Im going to keep at it if i think of any other possibility but until then its a sucky deal this game doesn't run full 60fps.  I dont see anything on this list that shouldn't be running or that would cause this issue so im lost.

    off topic i did check out DigitalFoundry , enjoyed the look back on the various blaster master editions. Ah yes m the good ol days of the NES. My gamer beginnings.

    @master2g

    It is most likely a file/data access type of performance issue. Try the following:

    Disable Avast, especially if it is performing on access scanning

    Disable Superfetch, again to try to eliminate unnecessary file accesses.

    Indubitably your perspicacity is evidence of your prodigious learnedness 😉

  • LOL, egads man that is a statement right there. I may just use that at a few parties on the ladies

    Gary- " Excuse me my name is Gary whats yours?"

    Jasmin - giggling " my name is Jasmin "

    Gary - " I couldn't help but notice your perspicacity is evidence of your prodigious learnedness and is Indubitably becoming"

    Ok now that that poor comedy routine is over hehe 😉 On to the update.....

    I have disabled prefetch / windows search right from the regedit to be sure Windows isn't ignoring me like it some times feels the need to.

    I have enough hardware that i disabled indexing also via regedit as a test..  Seems to have helped but A Legends Wheel start area in game still drops. Im using that as my test area.

    You got me thinking on the hard drive side of things as well with the file data access statement.  So im going to do a check on that disc to see if all is well , It should be as the hard drive is maybe

    a year old at most. Right now  im using Mydefrag to run a defrag and optimizer on the drive i have all my games on. Still processing so i will update as she goes my friend. TTYL  :eahigh_file:

    Oh yeah , this is the hard drive I have the game on along with Origin  , Steam and all my other games.

    Okay good, let us know if the defrag helps. Just so you know, some defrag programs are better than others. Some will just mash all of your files together, getting rid of the space between them while the better ones will actually rearrange the files so that related files are physically (not just logically) placed beside each other. I cannot name specific products but a little Googling should help in this regard.

  • 😕 Well im out of ideas. It is ether game or connection as every thing else has been tried. I used MyD on the hard drive, optimized it , and every thing. Installed the new 378.92 drivers and even went into my modems on line settings and made sure EA tunnel was in there and everything. I am in Canada and use Rogers high speed. Test give me 90Mbps . Connection doesn't make sense as the game is problematic in the same spots every time. I give up as there isn't anything left to try to my knowledge.

  • The game crashed again. Here are the Windows 7 event viewers logs. No particular order.

    NFS crashes then Origin follows .

    Can give you a dxdiag upload as well if needed.

    Like i said this is going to be a extremely hard fix . I am going to say big enough that we cant spend forever on it as you dont have that much time . Time to call in NASA.

  • Just to add bud,  i did a hard drive benchmark to get a reasonable idea where my games hard drive is at in performance. Here are the results . Thought maybe those areas i am having the low fps and stuttering are results of low HD speeds so i ran the test .

    @master2g

    Possible factors:

    • Relatively low hard drive random access speed
    • An issue with libGLESv2.dll - potentially fixed by an Origin clean reinstall: Link
    • Origin not installed on C:\
  • Thanks for hanging in there with me bud. I owe you a few beer....er i mean sugar free soda because insinuating beer drinking on the forum would be just wrong, an i would never do that . :P Bad Gary bad !!

    Those are good ideas so im going to run through them. Figure i will check them and related items as well like cables and such . Give me a few my friend to run through them and i will report back asap.

  • Reinstalled Origin , nothing fixed . I have Origin and Origin Games on my e drive that is my WD Black 1 tb drive. Actually every thing game wise is installed on that drive. Steam and all those games as well. The game runs some what better but now it wants to crash once or twice then works from there. I will play it and even if im sitting parked the game will just crash with in a 30m mark give or take. So I run it again and it crashes once more then oddly it works decent from there. So one problem partially fixed and another replaces it. It ether a windows 7 deep issue or the game/origin itself. I have gone thought everything on my system and this is the only game the gives me grief. It just doesn't like my gtx 1080 .Every other game , even NFS most wanted 2012 run all day long even on a higher over clock at that. Im dont friggen with NFS 2016 anymore . I cant prove it 100% but everything is pointing to a buggy game. Its been a majorly huge pain in the butt having to spend this much time on  game just to try and make it work. Anyways thanks a ton for the help my friend but i am moving on as i have run out of patience. ☹️

  • No apology needed you helped plenty my friend. Look, I wouldn't want your job as you are the " middle man " fielding and having to deal with angry rants , insults and the rest of the **** comments that comes directed towards EA not you. Its like the gas station attended getting crapped on for high gas prices. You just work there it is not like you run the company and they listen to your decisions anyways  :P   You dont have to comment LOL on that statement as i know you need your job . Anyways i didn't abandon it right after i posted and tried a few things that wasn't really a go to solution. I redid my CPU over clock to a higher but even more safe over clock with finer detail. I worked on getting my 1080 and 4770k running in perfect "harmony"  by tweaking everything to the finest of numbers and it seems to have help all games across the board even NFS 2016. It still dips but not as bad and the stuttering has been reduced a good amount to. I am old enough to have learned by now to take 90 percent good and live with 10 percent bad . Asking for 100 % perfection in anything is just asking for a long painful road to acceptance of 90% in the end anyways  LOL. Anyways thanks again bud and have a good one and game hard always . :eahigh_file:
