If you have the space, after re-installing, copy the entire game directory to another folder, perhaps to an external drive (or to a second drive if you have one). After the game stops working, you can compare the backup and current directories (use a program like windiff), to see what files have been changed. You may only need to restore the changed files to get the game working again, as opposed to doing another re-install.
