The exhaust customisation available makes the question about how the M3 GTR will sound hard to answer, you will likely be able to get the sound quite close to your liking.
Check the Gameplay Trailer to get an idea of what kind of exhaust notes will be available: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=04KPiGmC7Lc
Thanks.
- @EA_Barry Thank you for the reply and I understand what you’re saying. I agree that the new exhaust sound feature is amazing. However, if the main m3 gtr engine sound is wrong (it’s only been correct in nfs most wanted and nfs carbon and wrong in all the other ones), then changing the pitch of the exhaust won’t actually change anything. So I kindly ask, as an avid M3 GTR fan could you please relay this to the team and ask if they can use the sound files from nfs mw or carbon? Or even just pass this message onto whatever department manages the sound?
Many thanks

TomiThat's because it wasn't the actual GTR but the street version called the M3 E46. they sound completely different. they were only 'right' in those two games because those were the only two to have the actual GTR (well 3 games if you count MW12's M3 GTR)
- @anti-loser1 Yes I know the difference of them. In most wanted 2012 the sound was wrong, also in payback and these two cars were the ‘GTR’.

In payback and NFS 2015 it was the M3 E46 with the GTR body not the actual GTR. Yes, i know the MW 12 sound was wrong which is why i only said 2 games and said 3 if you count MW12 which you don't.https://nfs.fandom.com/wiki/BMW_M3_GTR_(Race)
Payback does not appear on the list of games
https://nfs.fandom.com/wiki/Need_for_Speed:_Payback/Cars
The car list only shows M3 E46, no GTR
https://nfs.fandom.com/wiki/BMW_M3_(E46)
This shows both payback and NFS 2015 on list of games
- @anti-loser1 So In heat, seeing as though in the car list it’s a ‘bmw m3 e46 gtr’ And is listed as a coupe as opposed to a performance car. Is it the actual m3 gtr or the e46 m3 with a gtr bodykit?
Care to comment ea? 🙂

Care to comment ea? 🙂We will have to see. I did hear somewhere that they are recreating iconic cars and the M3GTR is one of them. I do not know how close to the original it will be or if it will indeed be the GTR.
I would say that it is not the GTR, i hope i am wrong because i would love to have the real GTR back
- @anti-loser1 Where did you hear this?
EA Please gibe is the real and authentic BMW M3 GTR. We deserve it for your 25th anniversary - @Tomss4 I want it sooo bad

Go to the time stamp 15:40, he talks about legacy kits
- @anti-loser1 I don’t think he actually knows, it was more speculation. But what does this mean?
- @Tomss4 If they are talking about "legacy kits" that just sounds to me like another modified M3 E46 rip off with a GTR body kit, again! I would much rather have the genuine GTR V8 engine with straight cut gears, the way it was said that you may be able to recreate the "transmission whine" by using exhaust tuning probably means we'll sadly just be getting standard M3 imposters with tuned exhaust that won't even be close.

- @anti-loser1 So what do you think? Actual GTR or E46 with a legacy kit? The car list is abit tough to understand because it says E46 GTR And is listed as a ‘coupe’? EA can you provide an answer?

- @anti-loser1 But that doesn’t make much sense because there’s also a normal M3 E46 in the car list. Ben or Barry, care to comment and put our mind to rest?

- BMW M3 2006 Performance
- BMW M3 E46 GTR (Razer's from NFSMW) 2006 Coupe
Ok, it does seem like the M3 2006 is an E46 since i googled it and the 2000-2006 models are E46.
It does seem to imply that it is the GTR from the way they described it as razor's from NFSMW. (really its the players, razor stole it)
So what i am thinking is they mean a 2000-2006 GTR which would be the right car. I would really like someone from EA to confirm if it is the exact car
- @anti-loser1
It just insults me that they misspelled Razor like that, especially since this is the developers we're talking about! 😂
To be fair, there is a dispute over whether it's Razor's or "Player's" car. I don't really mind, it's definitely the Player's car though. The issue is that Razor is probably easier to give the car name to, rather than calling it "Player's BMW M3 GTR." The E46 just tells you that it is, as pointed out, part of the 2000-2006 3 series generation. So you could call it a BMW 3 series, a BMW M3 E46, or a BMW M3 GTR (E46) etc. - @anti-loser1 Well,if they listed street legal standard M3 E46 and race version M3 GTR E46 separately, they will more likely to be 2 different cars. But since this game also listed hardtop and droptop version of the same car separately,it's just another way to boost up the car list with repetitive cars
So today they released the normal E46 on the app. I wonder if that means there is an actual ‘race’ gtr ? Hopefully and fingers crossed there’s the straight cut gears and whine
Following the recent Under The Hood post concerning customization, I'm worried that we will not be getting our GTR.
"Why not install a 4.0 liter V8 into a BMW M3 E46? You can do that too!"
Sure you can, and you can tune the exhaust as well. But it won't be an M3 GTR and the way the exhaust is set up doesn't seem to allow you to achieve this either. This is a concern, to say the least.
@Jacobba55 Someone from EA needs to answer this so we don’t need to keep questioning each other. All they need to do is give a simple yes or no. Disappointing they can’t provide a simple update on whether the actual GTR is in the game with the engine sound or it’s just the body kit @BenWalke @EA_Barry
Exactly! You got it. Let's say some players really love the M3 GTR, like ourselves, and decide that they won't buy the game unless the M3 GTR is one of the cars you can drive. Naturally, this is a problem for GHOST and EA...
However, they can use underhanded tactics that technically don't breach any rules and regulations, but screw over the consumer nonetheless to prevent this. For example, they could make the GTR a DLC (locking it behind a pay wall), or officially listing it (but it's actually just a body kit).
Alternatively, what they are doing at the moment is giving open-ended answers that can be interpreted in multiple ways. The response @EA_Barry gave allows them to say that you can "make" the M3 GTR through customization, but we're not sure if we genuinely can because of the exhaust system's questionable nature. A very clever equivocation, that's for certain! I would say no, until proven otherwise. So if you desperately want that GTR, you might want to hold off just to wait and see. Okay?
reading through comments finding out about the new exhaust sound system seems awesome !
that always was a issue, no matter the exhaust cars always sounded like the stock kit.
